 Funabashi Senior High School Visits
				NEHS Every March, Chiba Prefecture
Funabashi Senior High School ventures to Taiwan. On March 18th,
under the guidance of Mr. Junji Kammura, a total of 30 teachers
and students from Funabashi Senior High School arrived at NEHS
to participate in the annual Science Research Exchange program.
Under the supervision of Mr. Hung, NEHS students from class H204
hosted the reception. Students from class H204 have been
preparing for this event for a long time; not only did they put
in serious effort to prepare entertaining performances, they
also wholeheartedly came up with suitable gifts for our Japanese
guests. During this period, students from Funabashi Senior High
School sat in classes with H204. In one such English class, they
felt especially awed toward the English level of Taiwanese
students. In another Applied Biology class, a lesson on
bird-watching further deepened their impression of this trip.
During the science fair, the first exhibition was held by
students from class H204, and they presented what they learned
from math, biology, physics, and chemistry, which was met with
praise from the Japanese guests. Consequently, Funabashi Senior
High School students also presented their research to NEHS
students; their refined posters, alongside the English
translation, deepened the knowledge of our students. After this
one-day event, students from both schools, through the varied
ways of communication, overcame their language barrier,
established a favorable interaction, and learned from one
another. Class H204 also plans to visit Japan this year and
hopes this friendship will continue to develop, benefitting
students from both schools! Elementary Department Dancing
Competition The annual dancing competition of
NEHS elementary department was held in March! With a total of 31
teams, each team tried their best to bring the most outstanding
performance because winning the competition was their only
chance to perform at school anniversary. Students in “Dance C
wore sparkling accessories and performed on the dark-lit stage.
Their mysterious and glistening performance was definitely
creative and left strong impressions for the audience. “Sweet
Seven  a team formed by seven fifth graders, combined three
different songs and performed enthusiastically on stage. This
year, there were three teams who chose “Yo-Kai Watch
coincidentally as their theme song, moving the audience with
their passionate and lively dances. In the end, 7 groups were
chosen as excellent performing groups, and “Five O Five was
chosen as the final winner because of their remarkable
				performance. Photography and Charity Sale
Exhibition - The Beauty of the Innate and the Surrounding World How do students
view disciplinarians? By their direct language? Or by their
overpowering authority? Although disciplinarians may seem to be
authoritative on the outside, they are actually a group of
kind-hearted people. Elementary Department teacher Mr. Chiu
(ªô²[«a¦Ñ®v) and Middle School Department Disciplinarian Mr. Chou
(©P¤hµ{±Ð©x) deal with student affairs during school hours; even
after school, they each carry a camera around to capture each
precious moment of this world. They not only push themselves to
improvement, but also introduce teachers from the Elementary
Department to join the world of photography. Now both Ms. Chiu
and Mr. Chou have carefully selected twenty-seven of their best
photos, along with other ones taken by teachers from the
Elementary Department, to be displayed in an exhibition at the
school library from February 22 to March 31. Let us be brought
through their lens, the shared stories under their lens, and see
the world from an entirely different perspective. The total
revenue earned from the charity sale, minus the initial cost,
will be donated to the school. Of course, we welcome everyone to
come and attend this festivity. NEHS Conquers the High School
Physicists¡¦ Tournament Far Eastern Y.Z. Hsu Science and
Technology Memorial Foundation and National Taiwan Normal
University Physics Department hosted the 8th Taiwan
Young-Student Physicists Tournament (TYPT) on March 2016. After
a 4-day pitched battle of 25 teams, 3 gold medal winning teams
finally outlived the others, with our NEHS “Octerminator proving
to be one of the strongest competitors! The Y.Z. Hsu Physics
Debate Competition demands students to apply various principles
to complete the challenge by applying all of their skills to use
in solving complex scientific problems and providing convincing
proof and arguments in English. Besides winning a gold medal, 10
outstanding students, one of whom is Jing-Yuan Bai from NEHS
high school class 2-4, were chosen by the committee to assemble
an even more powerful team to represent Taiwan. They will be
participating in an international competition held in Russia at
the end of June. Hopefully they will bring back Taiwan
first-ever gold medal in the Taiwan Young-Student Physicists
				Tournament! Sophisticated Education Result
Presentation Our school has applied for the
Ministry of Education¡¦s Sophisticated Supreme Plan and has
strived to provide students with a technology-based educational
environment. Thus, the school-wide wireless internet network has
been established. Another new addition is the Future Classroom,
which provides students the opportunity to work in groups and
gain the benefits of self didactic learning. Projects and
courses such as the Coral Reef Ambassador, Star gazing,
Animation creating, 3D printing, Robotics, and Philosophy have
been introduced or continued in IBSH and NEHS as well. Due to
immense success, IBSH has received an invitation to host a
presentation to other schools to share our experiences and give
them pointers on how to follow our path. IBSH has also used this
plan to provide students with better clubs and better
extracurricular activities such as sports teams and the
orchestra. Future plans for the Guidance office has also been
established. With invitational speakers from renowned schools
such as Taipei Medical School and National Jiaotong University,
the administrators seek to provide IBSH students with all of the
expertise and advices. For more information, please feel free to
