NEHS Field Day Took Place on
November 16th
Our school's
31th school-wide Field Day took place on November 16th. The sun
revealed its shine after days upon days of cloudy weather, and
the Field Day events were successfully held in the calm sunny
day. The opening ceremony began with the entrance of students
from all departments. Students wore creatively designed class
t-shirts along with attention-grabbing props and moves,
displaying their respective class's
distinguishing characteristics and showing the enthusiasm and
creativity of NEHS students. The young contestants of the
kindergarten department, filled with spirit and vitality,
attracted the camera lights with their adorableness. The alumni
passionately participated and zealously waved the flags of
various colleges, hyping up the entire atmosphere. This year,
the power dance was performed by the middle and high school
department students, who caught the attention of all present
with their vigorous and catchy dance moves. The bilingual
department's Cheerleading team
performed an energetic routine, also becoming the focus of
everyone present. The opening ceremony also consisted of the
inauguration of the new PTA president. In the morning, there
were the sixth grade class relays, the middle and high school as
well as the bilingual department's
various track finals, and each department's
faculty, parent representatives, and alumni's
group relay, prompting ceaseless cheering from all the
onlookers. In the afternoon, there were the faculty's
fun and games as well as the intensely competitive class relays
that brought the day into its climax. All the events
satisfactorily came to a close in the midst of the excitement
and enthusiastic cheers during the awarding ceremony. Thanks to
the Hsinchu City mayor, Mr. Hsu Ming-Tsai, as well as many other
VIPs for their personal attendance.
IBSH Performs Excellently at
International Mathematics and Science Olympiad for Primary
School
IBSH sixth graders An-Chieh Tsai,
Jeffrey Chang, Mark Kuo, Evan Cheng, Andrew Lin, and Yolanda
Chen participated in the International Mathematics and Science
Olympiad for Primary School, which took place from November 25
to 28, and performed excellently, winning one silver and four
bronze medals. This competition was founded by the Indonesian
Ministry of Education; this year’s is the 10th and is hosted by
the Philippines?Ministries of Education and Technology. The many
different nations from which participants hail made the
competition a unique opportunity for exchanging educational
experience from elementary school math and sciences. The
competition includes separate math and science examinations,
which cover the range of elementary math and science classes and
include short answer questions, exploratory questions, and
experiments. Notably, all of the problems are in English, and
students are likewise required to answer in English. In response
to the devastation Typhoon Haiyan wrought in central
Philippines, the participating students from Taiwan also each
carried with them 10 kilograms of relief supplies. During the
closing ceremony, these supplies were given to the mayor of
Taguig City, Lani Cayetano, to help support citizens in the most
harshly wrecked regions. Mark Kuo then gave a speech on behalf
of all the Taiwan participants offering their condolences to the
typhoon victims and wishing them a quick recovery.
Teachers Juan Juan Tian and Dao Ren
Xie Bring Honor to the School
Hosted by the Taichung City
Government at the Ming De Girl’s School and the Kuo Kuang
Elementary School from November 30th to December 2nd, the 2013
National Language Contest brought intense competition for the
2068 contestants from 22 counties. Our school’s Elementary
Department’s new teacher Ms Tian entered the Hsinchu City
Language Reading Competition, taking home 1st place, and
representing Hsinchu City to enter the nationwide level
competition, winning the impressive result of 5th place! The
Dean of High School-Science Magnet Program Mr. Xie entered an
excellent chemistry design, winning the ?School Specialty
Elective Learning Plan and Implementation?Selection Award. The
program was created in hopes of facilitating regular high school
classes through implementation, strengthening classes with
implementation mechanisms, urging teachers to share excellent
teaching plans, and to exchange experience and concepts with the
school, to help promote the twelve year educational system.
Joseph Chen, Brian Chen and Wesley
Wei Won 1st Place in the 15th National Internet Programing
Competition
The 15th National Internet
Programing Competition started at the beginning of December, and
H203
Joseph Chen, 11A Brian
Chen and 12B Wesley Wei won 1ST place in the High-
School group. Besides, Department students Zaiyu Deng and
Xiaohan Tsai also obtained honorable mentions in the Junior
Group. The National Internet Programing Competition was held by
the National Science Council along with the University of
Taiwan, and the questions were mainly algorithmic types with a
strong emphasis on the way the question was solved. Questions
included types like finding the shortest path or dynamic
programming, well suited for students who enjoy taking on the
challenge of programming. 25 teams were chosen from all the
original competing teams for the final round, which was held in
the network information center of the University of Taiwan,
where the teams have to solve six to eight questions within five
hours. Although the competition is made up of three-man teams,
each group only has one computer, so not only does this test the
members' programming ability, it also values the members'
teamwork and time management skills.
Experimental Department 2013 HCMC (Hsinchu
City Middle School Math Competition) receives excellent scores
