Fifth Annual Thimun-Singapore Conference

THIMUN Singapore held its fifth annual conference at the Hwa Chong Institution campus from the 17th through 22nd of November, 2009. A total of 77 schools and over 1200 delegates contributed to the grand event this year. Physics Classes Race Boats Against Strong Wind

The second year of the High School physics creative activity—the boat racing contest?took place on November 18th at the NEHS swimming pool. After intense competition, H2-4 team’s boat won the prize for the farthest distance traveled, while H1-4 team’s won at the fastest speed category. This boat-racing activity was founded by two physics teachers, Mr. Jin Feng Chen and Mr. Yuan Jang Chen. The purpose was to cultivate team spirit, creativity and problem-solving skills through a hands-on project competition. Students combined theory and practice and made boats that went against great winds, while in the meantime their creativity and passion for learning also took wings.
