NEHS Graduation Ceremony

NEHS 2011 Graduation Ceremony will be held in the gym on the following days: 6/9 (Bilingual Department), 6/10 (High School Department), 6/13 (Kindergarten), 6/15 (Middle School), and 6/17 (Elementary School). Only the high school graduation ceremony will start from 6 p.m., the others will start from 6:30 p.m. Principal Huang and PTA Chairman Mr. Lu cordially invite all graduates"parents to participate in this event. Principal, Dean, teachers, parents and undergraduate students will give their best regards during the ceremony. Senior wills are included in the graduation section of this newsletter. Experimental Department attended the 51st High School Division Two Science Exhibition and Performed Oustandingly

The 51st High School Division Two Science Exhibition took place on April 27th (Wednesday) at National Wu-Ling High School. There were a total of 182 projects from 33 high schools located in the Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli area. NEHS performed outstandingly. ticks around the fence "unique isoperimetry analysis"(math), ontrol! Pudding’swater absorbent sensitivity"(chemistry), and want to jump both high and far"(Biology) were awarded for outstanding performance and will represent the school in nationals. Futhermore, cut, I cut, I cut cut cut" (math) was awarded with excellence, while olden ration triangle fun"(math), and drawing"(physics), and “Save the campus trees"(biology) received special recognition. Special thanks to the hard work of teachers for guiding the students, and congratulations to the students who won awards.

The Elementary and Junior High Perform Exceptionally at the 29th Hsinchu Science Fair

The Twenty-Ninth Hsinchu City Elementary School Science Fair took place at Lwon-Shan Elementary School on May 20th. The contest this year consisted of elementary and junior high divisions, with categories including physics, chemistry, biology, the geosciences, mathematics, and application science. A total of 174 articles were submitted, making the competition very fierce. NEHS’sJunior High Department and Elementary Department participated in the contest and received exceptional results. The Elementary Department was awarded second place in the Group Award. Under the guidance of Ms. Chen Ru-Hwa and Ms. Gaw Mei-Yu, the submission “Travelling in the Air"received first place in the Biology division and was recognized as the best traditional Taiwanese education material. Great thanks to the teachers, who contributed to the outstanding performance of our school in this year’s science fair.

Cultural Exchange Between Nanyan Girls¡¦ High School and the Bilingual Department

Led by Ms. Ong Lee Hua and another teacher, 22 freshmen from Nanyang Girls"High School visited IBSH and took classes with students in 10B on May 24th (Tuesday). On the day of their visit, Principal Huang gave a speech, welcoming the coming students and introducing the school, and Dean of IBSH, Mrs. Jou, encouraged the Nanyang students to learn actively. The warm welcome from 10B students dissolved the wall of shyness between strangers and allowed the two groups of students to converse freely. The students spent a pleasant morning together, discussing English literature and history. We thank the Academic Section for their efforts and also hope that such exchange programs with Nanyang Girls"High Schoool will broaden the students"international perspective.

High School Department Hosts Cross- Cultural Classes

With the support of the National Chiao Tung University AIESEC subcommittee, the High School Department Administration will be hosting a series of cross-cultural events that include topics concerning global citizenship and global vision. Through contact with young adults of a variety of nationalities, students will not only be capable of surpassing cultural barriers but also move beyond cultural stereotypes. Amongst the cultural experiences introduced every Tuesday and Thursday from May 17th to June 16th include that of Malaysia, Canada, and Thailand, etc., and while the discussions emphasize skills such as leadership and group dynamics.

Bilingual Department 2011 Career Day Activity

The Bilingual Department held the 2011 Career Day activity on May 31. There was a total number of twelve sessions discussing career planning introduced by several guest speakers: Mr. Arthur Cheng, the Director of Being Playful Research Group of the ITRI Creativity Laboratory, Ms. Jeanie Hsieh, a professional designer, Ms. Vicky Hsieh from the IC Broadcasting Co. Ltd, Mr. Spencer Liao, the Senior Director of Human Resources Department from TSMC, Dr. Lu, the Professor and Dean of Student Affairs of National Tsing Hua University, and an alumni Mr. Albert, an Guest Researcher of Academia Sinica. Each speakers introduced specialized topics with the following titles: Beside Earning Money, Earn Your Dreams!, What Kinds of Reporters Do You Want to Be?, The Path to Success in Your Career and Life: How to Win in An Increasingly Competitive International Economy, Biology: The Study of Life -- What Life Do You Want To Study For?, and A Career in Humanities. These professional commentaries and in-depth discussions acquainted students with different career fields.
