Congratulations to Yan-Xiang Chang , Hao-Zhao Chong, Ren-Wei Huang, and Shih- yu Wang for Winning the 2013 National JHMC Gold Medal

On December 21, a total of 4275 middle school students and teachers participated in the Eleventh National JHMC Junior Mathematics Olympiad at a total of 6 different stations across Taiwan (including Taipei and Hsinchu). Our school¡¦s middle school department performed gloriously this year! Among all the bright students, M204 Zhang-Yan Xiang, M301 Chong-Hao Zhao, M305 Huang-Wei Hao, and M105 Shi-Yu Wang were some of the most outstanding. Out of 855 teams throughout the country, they used their exceptional mathematical abilities, excellent teamwork, and synergy to take the National Group Gold Medal and the First Place for the Hsinchu Area! The ¡§For Sure Team¡¨, composed of M301 Li-Heng Wang, M301 Yu-Ning Hsu, M305 Jun-You Wang, M305 Ling-Dong Tsai also won First Place in the Hsinchu Area. Furthermore, Yan-Xiang Zhang and Shi-Yu Wang won the Hsinchu Area Individual First Place; Teacher Hui-Zhu Chen also won the Outstanding Contribution Award. The JHMC competition focuses on teamwork and mutual enlightenment between team members with three sections: various subject speed competitions, individual competitions, and group competitions, emphasizing on practical as well as livelier questions. Regarding the group competitions, students must first understand each member¡¦s specific field of expertise, and proper designation of work. The Elementary Department hosts Hsinchu City's Little Olympia Science Fun Games and Creativity Contest

On December 11th, 48 teams of 278 participants in total, came together at the NEHS gym for a scientific, eco-friendly, and creative game. This activity was hosted by the Elementary Department under the lead of the dean, Ms Li. The principal, Christine Huang and even the Hsinchu City mayor, Mr. Hsu made an appearance to cheer on the activity. The main goal of this activity was centered on the protection and promotion of Hsinchu  cultural heritage. Students were encouraged to use eco-friendly material to portray the historical monuments and traditional artwork of Hsinchu. The purpose was not only for students to exercise their creativity, but also to encourage the understanding of our culture and the protection of our environment. The whole place was filled with joy, excitement, discussion and praise. Each team performed their talents in science and displayed a lot of teamwork for this project. NEHS  elementary team, the Acanthosis Ants, won the first place in this event, and two other teams won the third place separately in the Fun Games and the Creativity Contest. IBSH team also won the Honorable Mention in the Creativity Contest.

World Peace Organization Holds Fundraising Performances

The Mixed Handicap Band Charity Concert, which was hosted by the World Peace Organization and co-organized by NEHS, took place on December 13th at the school gym. This event was hoped to encourage everyone to help create a brighter future for disadvantaged children, to help them achieve their dreams. The Mixed Handicap Band is made up of people with various disabilities including a blind musician, a dancer with hearing disabilities, a limbless pianist, and their bandleader, the “wheelchaired giant?Mr. Ming Liu. The audience were touched by the sight of the performers?sunny smiles and cheered loudly for their spectacular performances. The Office of Academic Affairs was able to get more than 80 student volunteers to serve as receptionists. The volunteers were also tasked to help the performers move around, which allowed them to feel the positive and optimistic attitudes of the performers up close.

The Departments of Our School Celebrate Christmas--A Cheerful and Heart-warming Event

With the year of 2013 nearing an end, each department planned a series of exciting end of year events. Firstly, the Student Affairs Office of the Experimental Department organized performances for the choir, the teachers tap dance group, and others from December 19th to 27th, celebrating Christmas with cheery music and lively performances, and the teachers especially captivated the audience with their enthusiastic tap dance performance. Planned and decorated by the Bilingual Department parents was the Christmas Concert, which took place on the 21st and served as the finale of the events of the year. The concert began with the Bilingual Department orchestra delightful music, and was followed by the music video that the principal and the Bilingual Department faculty participated in. Directed by Ms. Marina Lin, the video further received passionate applause from the audience. The second Alumni Homecoming event held on the 20th also successfully attracted many alumni to attend the event. The Elementary Department, through Thanksgiving singing contestsand other such events, allowed for the children to turn their abstract appreciation into concrete action and spread the love at the end of the year. The kindergarten students also hopped on the train of giving thanks and sent shoeboxes filled with their sincere feelings. The teachers and parents of the Kindergarten Department cooperated in collecting presents to put in the shoeboxes, and not only allowed the children to realize that sharing the love to the tribal children of the Jian Shih and Fu-shing Townships is a heart-warming deed, but also allowed children to learn the spirit of hare the love, love to share!?

Our School Leads the 2013~2014 Hsinchu District Homogenization Conference

The¡§Hsinchu middle school adaptive learning community resource homogenization end-of-term conference¡¨ for the 2013~2014 school year began on December 19, 1:30 PM at the First conference room. The Director of the Hsinchu City Department of Education, Mr. Jiang, personally gave a speech during the event. About twenty principals and forty teachers, originating from a variety of local middle schools such as NEHS, Hsinchu Senior High School, Hsinchu Girl¡¦s Senior High School, Kuang Fu High School, World Senior High School and more, took part in the event. The start of the event is marked by a speech from the principal, Ms. Christine Huang, welcoming the visiting principals and other related teachers. The goals of the homogenization conference include: strengthening the bonds between the diverse middle schools, setting the foundations for the implementation of the new 12-year basic education system, encouraging the mutual circulation of educational material and resources. Afterwards, Ms. Yi-Chi Zhu, representing IBSH, and the representatives for the Hsinchu Homogenization plan from the participating schools, presented the operational plan for the 2013~2014 school year, hoping to inspire support from both teachers and students. Lastly, each principle was invited to collectively sign a cooperation agreement.
