Congratulations! Principal Huang
wins the Outstanding Leadership Award for Principals awarded by
the Ministry of Education!
Starting from
2004, the Ministry of Education has given out the Outstanding
Leadership Award for Principals every two years to encourage
principals from all over the country to improve their respective
school¡¦s education, and ultimately facilitating the country¡¦s
education system to approach the ideal towards excellence.
Principal Huang issued a ¡§Uniting Five Departments to Cultivate
Citizens with International Mobility¡¨ Program this June. This
program emphasizes students¡¦ individual spirit, development in
multiple fields, and worldview while improving the curriculum
and promoting community service. Most importantly, the program
creates a school in which all five departments set a harmonious
school atmosphere as the underlying basis for brilliance. With
this proposal, Principal Huang set herself apart from the
multitude of high school principals of the country and won the
Outstanding Leadership Award for Principals.
Principal Huang
has been serving in NEHS for more than 28 years. She has begun
her career in NEHS as an AP Calculus teacher and later on became
the Academic Affairs director and disciplinarian in the
Bilingual Department. She also served as the dean for the
following 11 years. As a principal in office for 7 years, she
has made great contributions to the school, with contributions
that include the expansion of the campus, allowing faculty and
students to enjoy a wider learning space, the development of
community resources and industrial links, providing students
with E-learning and supporting further growth of the school, and
the agglomeration of the five departments. In these five
departments, kindergarten focuses on pre-education, elementary
school creates a diverse and energetic study environment, middle
school prepares students for the five areas of study, high
school stresses the importance of all-roundedness, and the
bilingual department strives to cultivate leadership and
worldview in its students. Under the guidance of Principal
Huang, students take each step forward with confidence. This
award is the irrefutable evidence that each of the five
departments of NEHS excelled in leading the students.
Not only has
Principal Huang received the Outstanding Leadership Award for
Principals, she was also hired by the Ministry of Education to
take part in both the ¡§International Education Leaders
Committee¡¨ and the SIEP Judge Committee, where she could use her
past experience as a WASC committee member to help evaluate
elementary schools in Taichung. Principal Huang also adheres to
the concept of ¡§Teachers Teach and Students Learn¡¨ by making it
the cornerstone of her evaluations. Moreover, she is also
participating in the Ministry of Education¡¦s Education
Standardization Project, focusing primarily on middle schools in
Hsinchu. Since the 2014 school year, the Ministry of Education
has gotten cooperated with the Bilingual Department
administration team to help eight other high schools under the
Education Standardization Project employ full-time foreign
teachers and improve the quality of their English classes.
Principle
Huang¡¦s vision is to provide opportunities through education so
that students could express infinite potential. She believes
that education can bring positive change that nurtures Taiwan¡¦s
next generation into becoming global citizens with a sense of
justice. Principal Huang¡¦s vision has successfully flourished
under NEHS¡¦ cooperative system of departments.
Congratulations to Ms. Ai-Jen Yang
on Winning the Kindergarten Dean Merit Award!
From 2010 to 2014, NEHS teacher Ms.
Yang served as the dean of the school’s subsidiary kindergarten.
She has gotten unanimous praise from the parents and the
community for her painstaking attention to tasks ranging from
improving physical facilities to planning out the course
syllabi. Under the guidance of a professor from National Hsinchu
University of Education, Ms. Yang led her team of kindergarten
teachers as they followed his advice to inspect the school’s
resources and gradually design the most suitable course material
for the development of young children. Her noble mission is for
them to receive the best care in all aspects, including
kinetics, health, language, community, emotions, and aesthetics.
In 2013, Ms. Yang guided the kindergarten children to a good
performance in the national GreaTeach & InnoSchool KDP Awards
Competition. The municipal government agrees that her
contributions are entitled to high praise and presented her with
the Hsinchu Kindergarten Dean Merit Award accordingly, further
displaying her enthusiasm and devotion to the cause.
NEHS Bilingual Department¡¦s
Outstanding Homogenization Program Receives Accolade
In the year of 2014, teachers and
administrators of the bilingual department collaborated to
implement numerous curriculums and events, incorporating both
education and enjoyment. The annual UNICEF Carnival, Model
United Nations, the Roots & Shoots Animal Parade hosted jointly
with the Jane Goodall Institute, the ontemporary
dramaturgy workshop and the erforming arts musical workshop
events, and the xperiments at Experimental school program hosted
with the high school department all impressed the visiting
judges. With flying colors, NEHS won the 2014 Homogenization
Merit Convening School First Prize and the 2014 Homogenization
Merit Sub-program School First Prize, truly deserved by NEHS.
NEHS attends the 55th Annual
National Elementary and Middle School Science Fair and receives
excellent awards
The 55th Annual National Elementary
and Middle School Science Fair ended with a successful finale on
7/24 at Tainan. Under the guidance of teachers Hwei-Ching Feng
and Wei-Bang Jieh, NEHS high school students Jien-Xiung Luo and
Chang-Ting Yeh received 2nd place in the High School Biology
Division with their project ass at Red, Stop at
Green-Mutualism between Platyzoa and Algae? With the same
project, they also received the honor of first place in the
Award of Creativity. The project proved that the platyzoa was an
introduced species, or an exotic species, to Taiwan. It also
explained the mechanisms behind the insect habit to avoid
light as well as its gather around light. These explanations
served as reasons behind the insect settlement in coral
reefs. In the elementary department, under the guidance of
teacher Yu-Shung Lin, students Yong-Zhen Lin, Ka-Tong Yang,
Jun-Ying Deng , Bo-Yan Guo, and Cheng-Ho Yang learned the
mechanisms behind bladeless fans with their project he
Making and Research of the Bladeless Fan? Through the DIY
project, they tried changing variables to improve the existing
bladeless fan technology to create the strongest wind current.
The group received 3rd place in the Elementary School Daily Life
and Technology Division. The applaudable awards received by NEHS
students reflect the positive effects of our school deeply
rooted science education.
