NEHS 34th Anniversary: Tremendous Momentum

With the theme of  remendous Momentum, NEHS is celebrating our 34th anniversary on the 17th of March! Mr. Bao high school orchestra will perform an opening piece for the ceremony. The floor will then be yielded to Principal Huang, who will present awards to faculty members who have served the school for a long period, ranging from 5, 10, 15, 20, to 25 years. Also performing on the day are many passionate and talented student clubs: Elementary department award winning chorus and dance group, Kindergarten department Sun and Rainbow Class performance, and Bilingual department D.Co, CBC, and Cheerleading... Afterwards, the celebration will continue at the flea market, charity fair, and students work gallery. The High and Middle School department is also hosting a  EHS Got Talent and an inspiring movie screening, while the Kindergarten department is preparing a parent-and-child pottery making class. Let us hope that our school and student body will continue to advance with remendous momentum toward a bright and long future!

Build Your Own Telescope: Starry Night at NEHS

Under the invitation of  BC Knowledge International Chinese Edition, NEHS and Professor Wu of National Taiwan University Biology Department have collaborated to host an event:  BBC Knowledge Build Your Own Optical Telescope. The event, scheduled from March 4th to 5th, aims to popularize and spread knowledge of astronomy, pulling the seemingly faraway starry skies closer with this knowledge. Boasting an extremely low budget, the event teaches students how to make a high quality, large-diameter telescope. Using this telescope, students can clearly observe the craters of the moon, the waxing and waning of Mercury and Venus, Saturn’s rings and moons, and even the swirling stripes of Jupiter surface. Due to the rare opportunity and exciting experience provided by this event, the number of sign-ups abounded. The students not only gained a multitude of valuable knowledge during these two days, but also gained the chance to draw closer to the mysterious skies with their homemade telescopes!

2017 Taiwan University Entrance Exam Score Reports

The 2017 Taiwan General Scholastic Ability Test was hosted on the first day of winter vacation; score reports came out on the first day of the second semester. Students were all geared up for the exam, aiming to get a perfect score. However, this year, the questions are more difficult, especially ones on English and Math. While 138 people got full score last year, there are only 118 this year; H305 Lin-dong Tsai was one of them. In addition, among the 152 students from our school who participated in the exam, 6 people got a 74, 10 people got a 73, and a impressive 36% got above 70 out of the full score of 75. Thanks to all the hardworking teachers who made this exam successful. Congratulations to all the seniors and hope that all will get into their dream schools!

International Education: Bringing the World to Your Classroom

Under the lead of IBSH, our school has been taking part in the International Education program since 2016. The primary goal of this program is to allow our high school students to cross the barrier of space, using transnational video communication to interact with high school students from other countries and expanding their international perception. Apart from being in charge of promoting related activities, IBSH also has to interview and guide all participating schools. After careful preparation and testing, the first International Education video conference took place on December 16th, 2016. This conference involved students from Yuanlin Senior High School, the Affiliated High School of National Chung Hsing University, FengYuan Senior High School, National Nanke International Experimental High School, Taichung Municipal at Taichung First Senior High School, and Croatia  Zagreb middle school. Group discussions among the students were rich and worthwhile, including topics such as both countries?basic profiles, unique cuisine, historical monuments, cultural taboos, education system, and environmental issues. We hope that this program will continue to succeed in widening our students perception of this world and strengthening their interaction with international students; together, we will pave the road to a future of mutual prosperity.
