高中部施宇陽榮獲全國國語文競賽朗讀冠軍

全國九十六學年度國語文競賽於2007121112日在台中市明德女中舉行,實中優秀的朗讀選手高三2班施宇陽同學,代表新竹市參賽,在來自各縣市25名好手激烈競逐之中擊敗群雄,勇奪高中學生組國語朗讀全國冠軍殊榮。施宇陽同學口齒清晰,台風穩健,去年即獲新竹市朗讀比賽冠軍;今年更上層樓,勇冠全國。感謝丁美芬老師用心指導以及施同學之認真努力,讓實中優良學風再度揚名校際。

 

國小部羽球隊秋季排名賽成績斐然

新竹市九十六年度羽球秋季排名賽於1111日舉行,本校國小部四、五、六年級羽球隊共計30多位優秀選手代表參賽,成績斐然。羽球隊平日利用早自習、午休時間,在江國麒老師指導下認真練習。早先在新竹市九十六年度中小學羽球校際聯賽暨97全中運羽球代表隊選拔賽中已榮獲第一名,此次參與秋季排名賽,更榮獲新竹市國小中、高年級男、女生組單、雙打等十一座獎項,共計抱回六項第一名、四項第二名及一項第三名。獲此殊榮,在此向全體羽球隊師生致上最高的恭賀之意;並預祝他們保持佳績,繼續為校爭光。

 

雙語部Key Club 募款助愛恆啟能中心

本校雙語部40位「KEY Club社會服務社團」的富愛心的同學們,為響應新竹市愛恆啟能中心籌設「愛恆庇護工場」計畫,在121日下午在中興百貨前,持發票募集箱穿梭在週末購物人潮中,募集兌獎發票,為幫助喜憨兒自立更生而盡一份綿薄之力。這是Key Club 第二年參與愛恆年終街頭募集發票活動,去年募到近6000張發票,今年把目標定在10000張,希望能幫助更多的受限於身心障礙的弱勢朋友。Key Club社員的愛心與努力讓街頭經過人群十分感動,願意捐出一「票」助人,也讓實中師生同感光榮。加油,Key Club!這世界因有你們而更溫馨美好!!

 

圖書館舉辦英文分級閱讀圖書展

圖書館於1225日至200814日之間舉辦「英文分級閱讀圖書展」,地點在圖書館一樓展場。現場並備有座位,讓參觀者能輕鬆看書,並由熱心之家長圖書志工導讀;導讀時間為展出期間之每週三第四節,每週四第一及第七節以及每週五第五節。歲末年終,正是心靈充實的契機,愛書的師生家長們參與了一場英文分級閱讀的饗宴。

 

第三屆新竹高中生模擬聯合國 圓滿成功

實中主辦之第三屆「新竹高中生模擬聯合國」於2007121516日假實中會議室舉行。本次盛會包括實中共有五校參與,論辯與共識聚焦於安全理事會與經濟與社會理事會之議題;模擬聯合國活動之創始者,來自荷蘭的Mr. David Williams,並蒞臨指導,並在閉幕典禮中致詞,給予「新竹高中生模擬聯合國」此一深具意義之活動高度肯定與勉勵。感謝所有師生與工作人員之辛勞,並預祝明年之第四屆HsinMun也順利成功。

 

景美女中資優班蒞校參觀高中部                                                             

景美女中高二資優班35位同學,在教務方淑芬主任率領下,於1220日蒞校參訪。本次參訪重點為高中部高二4班之專題研究。景美女中師生一行約於中午抵達,用餐及聽取實中簡報後,便開始由高二四班全體同學分組作數學、物理、化學、生物之各科專題研究報告,內容精采,令來賓十分激賞。報告完之後,景美師生並分成數組,到各專科研究教室實際參觀上課及研究情形。感謝高二四班全體同學們在林秋月導師帶領以及各專題研究教師指導下,認真準備,用心呈現,讓遠來貴賓們不虛此行。

 

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT SHIH YU-YANG WON GLORY NATIONWIDE

High School Department senior Shih Yu-Yang brought ultimate glory home at the 2007 National Chinese Competition. The competition was held on the 11th and 12th of December at Ming-Der Girl's High School in Taichung city. The talented Shih Yu-Yang, from H3-2, represented Hsinchu city and competed rigorously against 25 other excellent reciters nationwide. Yu-Yang's excellent enunciation and composure was noted at last year's Hsinchu recitation contest when he won first place. This year he went on to win glory at the national level and brought home the championship. Thanks to Ms. Ding Mei-fen’s coaching and Yu-Yang's hard work, honor and glory have yet again been brought to our school. Congratulations!

 

ELEMENTARY BADMINTON PLAYERS STOOD OUT AT RANKING COMPETITION

The Hsinchu Autumn Badminton Ranking Competition took place on November 11, 2007. The NEHS elementary badminton team, made of 30 students from fourth to sixth grade, represented our school at the competition and brought back outstanding results. Earlier this year, these students had already participated in the 2007 Hsinchu City Elementary Badminton Competition and won the honor of first place. This time, they brought back a total of eleven awards which included six gold medals, four silver medals and one bronze medal. The badminton team trains diligently everyday during morning quiet time and lunchtime under the supervision and guidance of their coach Mr. Chiang. We sincerely congratulate the winners and wish the badminton team the best of luck in the future!  

 

BILINGUAL KEY CLUB’S CHARITY RECEIPT DRIVE TOUCHED MANY HEARTS

On December 1st, 40 Bilingual Department Key Club Members tunneled around in the crowd in front of Zhong Xing Mall and collected receipts to raise money for AiHeng Charity Organization. The funds are aimed to help people with Down’s syndrome to establish a life for themselves. This is the second year Key Club participated in the AiHeng Charity Organization End-of-Year Receipt Collection. Last year, Key Club members collected about six thousand receipts and this year they set their goal at ten thousand. The hard work and the passion of the Key Club members touched the hearts of many pedestrians, for what they did was truly commendable. As proud teachers and fellow schoolmates of these dedicated members, we would like to say: Good work, Key Club! Because of you, the world is a better place!

 

LIBRARY HOSTED ENGLISH READING EXHIBITION

NEHS library hosted an English reading exhibition, titled “Scholastic Lexile Leveled Readers”, from December 25th, 2007, to January 4th, 2008, on the first floor of the library. Seats were provided for the book lovers’ convenience, and volunteer mothers led the guided-reading. The guided reading periods were the fourth periods on Wednesdays, the first and seventh periods on Thursdays, and the fifth periods on Fridays during the exhibition. The end of a year was a perfect time to enrich our minds and souls, and bibliophiles of all ages enjoyed this English reading feast.

 

THIRD HSINMUN CONFERENCE ENDED IN A GREAT SUCCESS

The NEHS-hosted 3rd annual HSINMUN conference took place on the 15th and 16th of December. This conference consisted of five schools including NEHS, with topics ranging from the Darfur crisis, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to global warming in the Security Council and ECOSOC. We were honored to have Mr. David Williams, the founder of MUN at Hague in the Netherlands, to oversee the conference and to leave his closing remarks at the end of HSINMUN III. We’d like to thank all the people involved, and hope that HSINMUN IV will be just as successful next year.

 

GIFTED STUDENTS FROM TAIPEI JINGMEI GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL VISITED NEHS

The 11th grade gifted class from Taipei Jingmei Girls High School visited NEHS on December 20. The 35 gifted students, led by Director Fang of academic affairs, spent half a day with the High School Department’s 11th grade gifted class, H2-4, for a spectacular group presentation on topics from the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. They then visited each subject’s classroom for a close observation on their research in progress. Thanks to all the students from H2-4 and their homeroom teacher, Ms.Lin, for their contribution in making the Jingmei students’ visit a rich learning experience.
