I transferred to NEHS (back when it was still
called NEHS) right at the turn of high school in 9th grade. I
remember being depressed at my prospects in NEHS; I mean,
spending an entire high school career at a school with
restricted schedule, limited resources, madatory Chinese AND PE,
and a graduating class of 50 people? It was not how I imagined
high school to be.The funny thing is,it is exactly these
qualities about our school that I will miss the most now as we
are about to graduate. Chinese and PE have been a lot more
enjoyable than I expected, the former taking the honor of being
my all-time favorite class. The limited resources forces us to
become consciously aware of what we want that the school lacks,
and becomes an incentive for us to viciously hunt for what we
want. The small classes enables us to make friends with
everyone, regardless of cliques; and it really opens your eyes
about how similar different stereotypes can be. I have gained
more insight than I ever would have in a large school of 3000 in
NEHS. As cheesy as it sounds, the past four years has made us,
the class of 09, into a family. I cannot be more grateful for
coming to NEHS.
