NEHS Field Day held on November 13th
NEHS 2010 Field Day was held on November 13th. It was the first time all kindergartners participated in the marching straight and tall. The ceremony opened with the Experimental students¡¦ high-spirited power dance choreographed by Yi-Ting Zheng from class 203, followed by the IBSH Cheerleading team¡¦s great performance. Then, the class relays and final competitions brought Field Day into its climax. After much hard work and practice, the students finally competed on this day. The fun games between 7th to 9th graders and the teachers eased the nervousness between the contestants. And finally all the activities ended cheerfully with the presentation of Field Day awards.

The sixth Hsinchu Model United Nations Conference
On October the 23rd and 24th, the sixth Hsinchu Model United Nations (HSINMUN) Conference was held with a total of 17 participating schools and more than 400 students and teachers. Due to the amount of participating personnel, this year¡¦s HSINMUN Conference included two new committees ¡V the General Assembly 1st and 3rd Committees ¡V in addition to the three committees (Security Council, Economic and Social Committee, and Human Rights Council) already present. Topics of debate included the issue of blood diamonds and that of International Monetary Fund, and attention was brought to the current situation in Somalia, the territorial disputes in Kashmir, combating HIV/AIDS, etc. Students were required to participate in English while lobbying and debating. Through the process of working with others in crafting a resolution, students were able to fully experience and comprehend the political, economical, social and technological issues that plague the world as of today.

IBSH Hosts Sixth Annual UNICEF Fundraising Event
In October, IBSH officially launched a series of fundraisers for UNICEF. On October 1st, students from IBSH, the elementary department, PAS, and HAS joined together to celebrate the kick-off program--Raise Your Voice concert. Following the concert was Walk-a-thon, an activity that raised more money than it has ever done in previous years. Integrating the concept of ¡§service learning¡¨ into his teachings, Mr. Kayao Sou, the fifth graders, and their parents held a series of fundraisers every Wednesday, sold UNICEF T-shirts, and participated in the UNICEF Carnival. Mr. John Liu¡¦s United States Government class also held a mock-Presidential election and donated the money the parties raised to UNICEF. The climax of the activity happened on October 27th at the UNICEF Carnival. The events raised approximately $170,000 in total, which will be donated to UNICEF. We thank all teachers, students, and parents, who made this meaningful event possible.
