Congratulations to Mr. Lee for
Being Elected as this year¡¦s PTA President
The election of the PTA took place
on October 8th. Thirty-one new PTA members were chosen, of which
nine were nominated as Standing Committee Members. In the end,
Mr. James Lee was selected as the President, with Mr. Lin, Mrs.
Lee, and Mr. Kuo as Vice-Presidents and Mrs. Lee as the
treasurer. The inauguration will take place during the Field Day
opening ceremony on the 16th of November. We wholeheartedly
thank President Lin as well as the other PTA members for their
enthusiastic services and contributions last year. We hope that
the PTA and the school will have a pleasant school year.

Zhang Yan Xiang, Wang Shi Yu, and
Chen Di Yu Shine in the International Mathematics Competitions
On July 2nd, Zhang Yan Xiang from
class M204, Wang Shi Yu from class M105, and Chen Di Yu from
class H105 attended 2013 IMC International Mathematics
Competition which took place in Burgas, Bulgaria. They won first
place for the team competition, second place for association
competition, and fourth place for the total overall score.
Furthermore, Zhang Yan Xiang and Wang Shi Yu both won first
place for individual categories while Chen Di Yu won second
place. Moreover, NEHS high school participants who attended the
2013 Northern Taiwan Mathematics and Information competition won
first place for five out the six events.
IBSH Teacher Ms. Peggy Wu Wins
Outstanding Educator from the University of Chicago
Peter Wu, alumnus of IBSH, is
commended for his outstanding performance at the University of
Chicago. He recommended the Bilingual Department teacher Peggy
Wu to the University of Chicago as an Outstanding Educator due
to her engaging teaching skills and ability to nurture
students?learning interest and in-depth thinking, and she was
awarded the Outstanding Educator from the university in
September of this year. Ms. Wu teaches AP Calculus and AP
Statistics in the Bilingual Department with a logical,
structured style, and is skilled at encouraging students
motivation to learn and surpass themselves. Her students hold
her in high regard.
IBSH Hosts HSINMUN IX
HSINMUN IX, hosted by IBSH, took
place at our school from October 12th to 13th. This year’s
HSINMUN consisted of students from NEHS/IBSH, Chien Kuo
Municipal High School, Taipei First Girls Senior High School,
Taipei American School, National Hsinchu Senior High School,
National Hsinchu Girls' Senior High School, Hsinchu
International School, Pacific American School, American School
in Taichung, Tainan First Senior High School, National Tainan
Girls' Senior High School, International Bilingual School at
South Tainan Science Park, as well as 23 other schools with over
450 students and teachers. With a total of 250 delegations,
under the leadership of Elaine Wang, Powen Jenq, Jeffrey Wang,
and other student officers, and the organizing of Ms Elizabeth
Wyant, Ms Peggy Wu and the entire IBSH administration staff,
this event was a huge success. The conference was divided into
the Economic and Social Committee (ECOSOC), the Security
Council, the Human Rights Committee, the First General Assembly
(GA1), and the Third General Assembly (GA3). The conference
discussed topics such as the complex issue of Syria. The
participants came to understand world trade negotiation through
the World Trade Game. In addition, the conference invited the
Director of Labors Affairs at the Manila Economic and Cultural
Office, Mr. Conferido, to be the keynote speaker. Mr. Conferido
commended the conference participating students for using
their English skills in conveying their stances, debating,
lobbying, and discussing international issues in depth. He
highly approved of our school attentiveness and dedication
to hosting the annual HSINMUN conference as well as to nurturing
our students international knowledge and enhancing their ability
to compete and operate on the global stage.
NEHS Hosts Fundraising Events
IBSH hosted its 9th year of UNICEF
fundraising events in October, including a T-shirt Sale,
Walkathon on October 25, and Halloween Carnival on October 30.
Dean Yen, Mr. Fwu, and members of the UNICEF Club spread the
word among students in our school and Hsin-Ke Junior High School
in the hope that everyone can lend a helping hand. In addition,
the Huei Zhu community held a flea market sale on Zhucun 1st and
2nd Rd. 9:00~15:00 on November 9 (Sat.). All money raised will
be donated to Hsinchu Social Welfare Foundations.
