Congratulations! Outstanding
achievement on the national language competition!
On November 28th, the 2016 national
language competition had its grand opening. The final round of
the language contest was held in New Taipei City for three
consecutive days. The topic for this year was ¡§Generation of
Hipsters: Taipei Style.¡¨ Aside from the language competition
itself, there were many product designs in the surroundings and
travel routes provided to the contestants, which allowed them to
tour New Taipei City, creating a new and innovative atmosphere
of the competition. The number of contestants and the number of
various competition groups all set a new highest record with
2,102 language experts representing different cities coming
together for the competition ready to compete in 133 different
groups for the school glory and to show their ability. In our
school, student Shu-Wei Wu won first place in the high school
writing division under the guidance of Mr. Qui-Wen Chen.
Elementary school teacher Ms. Juan-Juan Tien won fifth place in
teacher reading division under the guidance of Mr. Su-Chi Chen.

the Elementary Department, coaches Chih-Hong Han, Wen-Yi Chang
and Kai-Lun Liu led the class of 6-4 to a second place in the
elementary section; From each of the Middle School Department,
Coaches Ray-Jun Peng and Chih-Jieh Chen led the class of 1-3 to
fifth place, coaches Yi-Ling Kuo and Chih-Jieh Chen led the
class of 2-1 to a third place, and most impressively, coaches
Pei-Jung Lin and Han-Yun Chiang led the class of 3-3 to the
championship. From the high school sections, NEHS and IBSH
joined forces and unexpectedly, the high school boys snatched
the championship crown under the guidance of coaches Jung-Yen
Lee and William Liao. The high school girls were runner-up
thanks to coaches Ming-Huieh Tsai and William Liao. This year
was a Golden Age of victory-- especially since the two winning
teams prove to be in it for the long run and are representing
Hsinchu in the final battle of the national competition. We wish
them luck in the competition and hope that they will bring back
good news once again and make all of us proud, and we thank each
coach for all his or her efforts and contributions!
Spectacular Achievements in the
Hsinchu Literature Prize
Hsinchu City hosted the Hsinchu
Literature Prize competition, accepting thematic works involving
stories, scenery, campuses, delicacies, travels, and industries
in Hsinchu, the Wind City. Through this competition, Hsinchu
hopes to promote local literature, search for refreshing
writing, or discover potent writers; the competition is an
annual major event in the city’s literary world. Students from
the high school department of NEHS also participated in this
competition, and they achieved great success in the youth prose
group. H303 Chi-Shan Ke won second place with his “Silhouette
Under the Lamplight at T19,?H204 Jun-Lin Wang won third place
with his “House Suspended in Time,?and H304 Ding-Bang Wang won
honorary mention with his “Every Station Stop.?In this
competition, NEHS won multiple awards, demonstrating the success
of its language education. We hope that NEHS will shine in
future literary competitions as well, achieving glory for the
school.
Hunger Twelve, the experience of
hunger
On December 13th, four schools in
the Hsinchu region held the “Hunger Twelve. The high school
department of NEHS EDSC also participated in the event. From
6am, students from NEHS, Hsinchu High School, Chien Kong High
School, and Jhu Dong High School gathered in Hsinchu High
School’s gym and fasted until 6PM. Within this timeframe,
students could only drink water and sports drinks. During the
twelve hours, clubs from each of these schools performed,
professionals lead group activities, and the staff from World
Vision even came to explain the reasons of the original
unger Thirty through videos, pictures, and personal anecdotes.
Besides the privileged lives they lead, the students in this
event understood with their bodies that there are still people
in this world who are starving. Hopefully through this
experience, we can empathize with other people's misfortunes,
including starvation. We welcome everyone to attend “Hunger
Thirty this July, use our own little power to bring attention to
the world starvation issues.
Winter Concert bring joys to the
world
The annual Winter Concert was held
on December 25th by the International Bilingual Department. This
year, we invited teacher Effrosyni Rigopoulou to plan the
musical concert¡¦s repertoire. Each performing classes presented
a variety of dances and adapted to the plot
¡§A Christmas Carol¡¨, showing the
results of their hard work. When popular songs began to play,
the performers on stage began to dance, spreading their energy
and joy amongst the crowd. The audience beamed with joy as they
were immersed themselves in the music, captivated by the show.
It was as if the audience walked upon the stage and was part of
the performance as well. Through this successful concert, we
hope to present our warmest wishes and appreciation towards our
guests in this winter season.
