恭賀辜存信先生當選本屆家長會長

105學年度第一次家長代表大會於10月4日晚上舉行並進行委員改選。共計由家長代表投票選出31名新任委員，並由委員中推選9名常委。本次改選最後由國小部家長辜存信先生(Mr. Calvin Ku )榮膺本屆家長會會長。黃武雄先生、蔡珮真女士、蔡新豐先生、張其珍女士及陳品綺女士榮膺本屆家長會副會長，王嘉慈女士擔任財務長、彭瑄蘭女士擔任監察委員。新舊任會長將訂於11月12日校運會開幕典禮時舉行交接儀式。感謝黃武雄會長及各位委員過去一年來對本校的熱忱服務與貢獻。同時希望實中家長會在辜會長的帶領下，在新學年繼續家長會對學校的全力支持與協助，讓家長會與學校的互動圓滿順暢。（家長會委員名單詳見第十四頁。）

全國科學班教材教法研習會盛大登場

10月21日，一群來自全國各校科學班的老師們及學者專家、國教署長官們齊聚實驗中學，進行一年一度的全國科學班教材教法研習會。研習會由黃芳芷校長進行開幕儀式，率領科學班教學團隊及行政團隊歡迎近四十位與會者。接著，由本校英文、數學、物理、生物及歷史科教師分享語文、自然、社會科教材教法及演示，課程內容十分精彩！英文科劉秀敏老師分享她運用「空中英語教室雜誌」教材於教學之中，透過小組競賽的方式，訓練學生從聽力、閱讀理解到組織、分析思考能力養成，進一步學習流暢有條理的口語表達。物理暨數學科則邀請教務處莊添丁主任及前科學班主任洪于晟老師共同主講，以「數理合科的課程教學」為講題，分享物理與數學的合科教學及帶領科學班進行物理實驗的過程。最後，由生物科馮蕙卿老師、揭維邦老師及歷史科徐万晴老師講述跨領域教學對話的過程。在研習分享結束後，更安排綜合座談，讓各校與會教師於會中分享心得。此次活動不僅在課程方面令在場教師接觸多元教學模式，更加深了全台各科學班之間的溝通對話，相信對科學班日後的發展有更精實的助益。

UNICEF系列活動熱鬧登場

每年雙語部會舉辦UNICEF系列活動，透過相關的活動，為世界上需要幫助的孩童進行募款。首先登場的，是慈善健走活動（walk-a-thon），在這之前，雙語部學生曾前往新竹地區鄰近學校宣傳本活動，鼓勵附近的師生共同參與此項活動。10月21日活動當天，一個悶熱的週五午後，由雙語部INTERACT社團主辦的Walk-a-thon即將開始，不少雙語部師生聚集在實驗中學籃球場。藉由自主募款模式，學生不但鍛鍊心肺功能、維持健康體魄，更激發潛能比平常跑走了更多圈數、募得更多款項！另外，因萬聖節來到，雙語部也在10月26日舉辦了相關活動，如一到四年級的Trick or Treat、UNICEF社團舉辦義賣鬼屋體驗及萬聖節變裝大賽，都引起了熱烈的迴響。而在活動中心所舉辦的義賣活動，則由1至12年級擺設攤位，義賣食物、飲料、書本、手工藝品及遊戲活動。最後，雙語部會將此系列活動之盈餘捐助UNICEF，協助該協會保障兒童生存權利。

國語力紮根　新竹市國語文競賽成果豐碩

本校經過校內初賽選拔的選手，在指導老師精心指導下，於105學年度全國語文競賽新竹市複賽中奪下好成績。高一3班王亭雲奪下高中組作文第一名、高二5班謝馥伊獲客家語朗讀第二名、高三3班黃采媛獲得寫字比賽第三名、高三3班劉育伶獲國語字音字形第四名及高二2班呂佳峻獲國語朗讀第六名。國中組部分，國一3班郭逸柔獲得國語朗讀第三名、國三3班劉姿喬獲閩南語演說第六名、國三5班詹旻潔獲閩南語朗讀第六名及國三１班涂維妮在寫字項目獲得第六名。國小組部分，六年一班趙奕筑榮獲國小學生組國語朗讀第一名、五年五班黃愛甯獲國小學生組客家語朗讀第五名、五年二班童翌安獲國小學生組閩南語演說第六名。教師組部分，則由雙語部謝慧綺老師奪下國語文競賽社會組朗讀第一名！其中王亭雲、趙亦筑及謝慧綺老師將代表新竹市參加全國語文競賽，預祝他們旗開得勝，再獲佳績！也恭喜以上得獎同學！

十二年國教前導實驗計畫學校啟程

實驗中學多年以來一直在教育上不斷突破、創新，希望能夠為臺灣的教育盡一份心力，並為本校的學生建立更完善、多元的教育環境。教育部推廣十二年國教，有鑑於此，本校積極加入12年國教前導實驗計畫學校的行列，並在今年十月份邀請國家教育研究院范信賢副研究員蒞校指導，針對全校各部未來的教學走向與12年國教計畫的整合，給予指導及建議。當天早上，范信賢老師一早就抵達本校，分別與高中部、國中部及國小部的12年國教前導學校計劃課程核心小組進行一連串馬拉松式的討論及分享。范老師不僅釐清了此計劃的概念與方向，更針對各部目前或未來預計要進行的課程計畫內容，該如何與12年國教理念整合提供寶貴的意見，以期達到相輔相成的效果。期望本校在各部教師的努力之下，能夠帶給本校師生嶄新的視野與展望。

Congratulations to Mr. Calvin Ku, the New President of PTA

The 2016-2017 school year’s first Parent-Teacher Association’s member selection took place on the night of October 4th. There were a total of 31 new members, of whom 9 were chosen to join the standing committee. Mr. Calvin Ku was elected as President, while Mr. Edward Huang, Ms. Pei-Jen Tsai, Mr. Xin-Feng Tsai, Ms. Qi-Zhen Zhang and Ms. Pin-Chi Chen were chosen as Vice Presidents. In addition, Ms. Jia-Tzu Wang became the PTA Treasurer and Ms. Hsuan-Lan Peng as the PTA inspector. The inauguration of these new executives will be held during Field Day, November 12th. We must thank Mr. Edward Huang and the other past executives for leading the Association and dedicating their time and energy into improving our school. Let us hope that Mr. Calvin Ku will lead the new team to continued success and facilitate effective communication between the PTA and our school. (See pg.14 for a detailed list of PTA members.)

National Seminar for Science Magnet Program Teaching and Learning Methodology

On October 21st, many Science Magnet Program instructors, related experts, and representatives from the Ministry of Education gathered at NEHS for the annual National Seminar for Science Magnet Program Teaching and Learning Methodology. The Seminar began with an opening speech from our Principal, Ms. Christine Huang, who led the Science Magnet Program teachers and administrators to welcome the nearly 40 participants of the seminar. Then, our school𠏋 English, Math, Physics, Biology, and History teachers shared their teaching methods; their demonstrations were spectacular! English teacher Ms. Hsio-Min Liu shared about how she incorporated Studio Classroom magazines into her classes, training her students?English listening and reading comprehension abilities as well as their analysis and critical thinking skills through group competitions, ultimately promoting more fluent English communication abilities. Turning to the subjects of physics and mathematics, we invited Dean Tien-Ding Chuang and former Dean of Science Magnet Program, Mr. Yu-Cheng Hung, as co-speakers on the topic of 弌 combined curriculum of mathematics and physics.?They shared their teaching methods of the combined curriculum and how they led the Science Magnet Program to conduct physics experiments. Lastly, biology teachers Ms. Hue-Ching Feng and Mr. Wei-Ban Jieh along with history teacher Ms. Wan-Ching Hsu talked about the process of teaching interdisciplinary subject areas. At the end of the course-sharing, teachers shared what they have learned in a collective discussion. The Seminar not only exposed teachers to different academic styles but also improved the communication among instructors in Taiwan, contributing greatly to the future development of Science Magnet Program.

Dazzling Debut of the UNICEF Events

Every year, IBSH hosts a series of UNICEF events in order to raise funds for children in need all around the world. First, we had the Walk-a-thon, hosted by IBSH club InterAct. IBSH students already advertised and encouraged teachers and students from other schools in the Hsinchu area to join, so on Friday, October 21st under the sweltering afternoon heat, many IBSH teachers and students congregated at the IBSH basketball court, waiting in anticipation for the event to start. With a voluntary donation approach, students not only train their hearts and lungs and maintain their healthy physiques but also find the motivation to walk and run more than they ever did in order to fundraise more! On October 26, with Halloween right around the corner, IBSH hosted more events such as Trick-or-Treating for grades 1 through 4 and UNICEF Carnival𠏋 Haunted House and Costume Contest, which all drew the most positive responses from participants. First through twelfth graders also put up a charity sale in the old gymnasium and sold foods, drinks, books, crafts, and games at their booths. IBSH is proud to say that the revenue generated from all the activities mentioned will be donated to UNICEF to assist the organization in securing children𠏋 basic rights of living.

Hsinchu Intermediary Contest for 2016 National Language

After passing the preliminaries in our school and continuously improving with the help of supervising teachers, many students of NEHS achieved great results in the Hsinchu City-wide regional round of the 2016 National Language Contest. For the high school division, H103 Ting-Yun Wang received first place in essay writing, H205 Fu-Yi Hsieh received second place in Hakka oral reading, H303 Tsai-Yuan Huang received third place in calligraphy, H303 Yu-Ling Liu received fourth place in Chinese text, and H202 Jia-Jun Liu received sixth place in Chinese oral reading. As for the middle school division, M103 Yi-Rou Kuo received third place in Chinese oral reading, M303 Zi-Ciao Liu received sixth place in Taiwanese speech, M305 Min-Jie Jan received sixth place in Taiwanese oral reading, and M301 Wei-Ni Tu received sixth place in calligraphy. For the elementary division, 601 Yi-Zhu Zhao received first place in Chinese oral reading, 505 Ai-Ning Huang received fifth place in Hakka oral speaking, and 502 Yi-An Tong received sixth place in Taiwanese speech contest. As for the teachers, IBSH𠏋 Ms. Hui-Qi Hsieh received first place in Chinese oral reading! Among the winners, Ting-Yun Wang, Yi-Zhu Zhao, and Ms. Hui-Qi Hsieh will be representing Hsinchu City in the final round of the National Language Contest. Let us wish them the best of luck to win the competition! Finally, congratulations to all above who received awards!

NEHS as Pioneer School of Twelve-Year Compulsory Education

All these years, NEHS has been constantly pushing boundaries and innovating for education, hoping to improve Taiwan's education and to create a more perfect and diverse education environment for our students. When the Ministry of Education promoted the twelve-years compulsory education, NEHS readily joined the vanguard schools adopting the plan. This year in October, we invited Vice-researcher Mr. Xin-Xian Fan of the National Academy for Educational Research to give some guidance and advice regarding our progression toward the twelve-year compulsory education program and its connection to the future of our school in general. That morning, Mr. Fan arrived at NEHS early to carry on a marathon of discussion and sharing with the high school, middle school, and elementary school department groups responsible for adapting courses to the twelve-year compulsory education plan. Mr. Fan not only clarified the basic concept of the plan, but focused giving valuable advice regarding the future curriculum’s compatibility with the 12 year compulsory education plan. We hope that with our teachers’ great efforts, NEHS can bring our teachers and students brand new visions and prospects.
