Organized by the Singapore International Mastery Contests Centre (SIMCC), the STEAM AHEAD Olympiads
are prestigious academic competitions designed specifically for secondary school students. Held annually in a
different host city, the 2025 edition took place in Shenzhen, China, gathering outstanding students from Taiwan,
Singapore, Indonesia, India, and the Middle East.

Given the limited availability of full-English Olympiad-style competitions for junior high school students in
Taiwan, the IBSH Bilingual Program has partnered with SIMCC since 2020 to host the Taiwan regional rounds
of SASMO (Math) in March and VANDA (Science) in May. Students who perform well are invited to compete at
the global finals—this year, in Shenzhen. These experiences not only sharpen their problem-solving skills but also
prepare them for global academic challenges.
Led by Ms. Kim Lin and Ms. Chiao Hung, 11 students represented the IBSH Bilingual Program at the Vanda
International Junior Science Olympiad (VIJSO) and the International Junior Math Olympiad (IJMO). Among
them, 9B student KUO, CHUN-TING earned the Overall Global Champion title, marking a historic win. The team
brought home a total of 3 Golds, 1 Silver, 3 Bronzes, and 1 Honorable Mention in Science, and 2 Golds and 2
              Honorable Mentions in Math.

To prepare for this high-level competition, Sciences Department Head Mr. Ray Chin led the Bilingual
Science teaching team in designing a one-month intensive training program. Mr. Chin researched Olympiad
science materials and collaborated with the science teachers to offer structured coaching sessions. During the trip,
both coaches continued helping students review and practice in the hotel—demonstrating the team’s unwavering
              commitment to student success.
Beyond the competition, students visited high-tech zones in Shenzhen. They explored fields like AI,
renewable energy, and electronics—bridging classroom knowledge with real-world applications, and strengthening
              their global and interdisciplinary perspectives.
These awards are a testament to the IBSH’s long-standing emphasis on interdisciplinary integration and
global learning. Congratulations to all winners—and heartfelt thanks to the teachers and parents for making this
              success possible!
