校運會熱烈舉行
         一年一度的運動盛會又將於十一月十一日展開，
隨著會前賽的展開，在運動場上已不時可見到同學們
矯捷的身影。為了迎接這個年度盛會，各部也分辦各
式比賽，今年負責大會節目的國中部將以各班的啦啦
隊表演來呈現活潑的朝氣，雙語部為求同學們進場時
能抖擻有勁則舉辦了分列式進場比賽，國小部則請小
朋友設計校運海報替會場增輝，請大家拭目以待。

馬金溝博士當選本屆家長會會長
         八十九 學年度家長代表大會於十月二十六日 改
選完成。選出委員28名,並由委員中推選常委 13名,最
後由任職工研院的馬金溝博士在全體常委推舉下, 高
票當選本屆會長。 新舊任會長訂於 十一月十一日交
接。 感謝洪淑芳會長一年來對本校的支持， 並恭喜
馬會長當選。

九十學年度校內優良課程革新作品揭曉
         為鼓勵各部教師研發相關課程之補充教材及課程
設計，本校特別商請家長會設置獎勵優良課程革新作
的辦法，今已堂堂進入第四個年頭。九十學年度校內
優良課程革新作品優勝名單，在評審慎重評選後順利
揭曉，共計十四件作品，在此恭喜所有獲獎的老師，
也誠摯感謝家長會的支持。

戴校長應邀出席上海兩岸四地校長論壇
         本校戴校長於十月十五日至二十一日應邀出席上
海華東師範大學慶祝五十週年校慶兩岸四地校長論壇
， 戴校長在該研討會中發表論文一篇  --- 「 前瞻與務
實：未來導向的校長培育學程規劃構思」---與教育界
的同仁切磋分享。在上海期間，戴校長亦參觀了當地
的學校，希望未來能有機會安排本校師生和上海的老
師同學有更進一步的交流。

幼稚園教學觀摩研習活動
         為增進與新竹市教育局及市內公私立幼稚園的互
動與交流，本校幼稚園部受邀協助新竹市辦理九十年
幼稚園教學觀摩研習活動，十月十六日上午共有近八
十位老師前來本校參觀，當天參訪來賓除了到幼稚園
各班教室參觀教學觀摩外，幼稚園部亦商請成虹飛教
授及張重文老師帶領課程設計、特色導覽及實務研討
等精采活動，希望透過這次和校外老師的經驗交流，
能增進彼此的專業素養與知能，從而提升教學品質。

大師出馬親臨指導 論文寫作研習活動順利舉行
         為提昇學生語文表達、強化蒐集與分析資料的功
夫，並培養撰寫小論文之能力，圖書館特聘請清華大
學歷史系的黃一農教授與張元教授來本校開授「從科
技到人文的研究方法與論文寫作」及「歷史學的研究
方法與論文寫作」兩項研習活動，該活動預定於十一
及十二月的周六舉行，凡是本校高中一、二年級的同
學皆能報名參加，由於兩位講師學養豐富，素受人推
崇活動，內容精彩可期，希望同學把握這難得的機會
。此項研習活動為本校圖書資訊利用教育系列活動之
一，其他部別現刻緊鑼密鼓規劃中，請拭目以待。

鬼影幢幢 歡樂融融
        十月三十一日的西洋萬聖節是一個適合「裝神弄
鬼」的好日子，先是生活藝術課誠摯歡迎大小朋友到
他們自創的鬼屋試試自己的膽子，另外幼稚園及雙語
部一、二年級的「小鬼」們打扮成各式人物，在老師
率領下到各辦公室串門子，展開討糖的一流功夫，雙
語部更在家長會的支持下，於當天下午4:30到6:30在中
庭舉辦化妝大賽，同學們發揮自己的創意盡興的打扮
自己並拍照留念，玩的相當開心，該活動甚為熱鬧成
功，也替一年一度的萬聖節劃下完美的句點。

育賢國中舞蹈班精采演出
         為提昇國小學生對舞蹈的鑑賞與素養，國小部邀
請育賢國中的舞蹈班於十一月二日蒞臨本校表演，表
演的舞碼變化多樣，「敦煌飛天舞」美麗曼妙，婀娜
多姿；「臥虎藏龍」豪氣干雲，武功蓋世；「神采飛
揚」則充滿青春朝氣，魅力十足，台上舞的忘我，台
下看的過癮，舞蹈天地就是這麼的迷人豐富，謝謝育
賢國中這群「舞林高手」帶給國小部如此難忘精采的
演出，希望日後能再有機會邀請他們來表演。

愛國歌曲響徹雲霄
         高一高二同學們十月二十四日的愛國歌曲比賽，
真不是蓋的，每一班參賽的同學都發揮了本校校訓中
「創新、超越」的精神，在雄壯威武的軍歌表演中不
忘加入詼諧有趣的部分，無論是隊伍行進的變化或是
手勢歌詞的呈現，再再顯現出同學們的創意。 

.Field Day A Great Success
The annual school wide Field Day will be held on November 11 
this year. With the beginning  of  the Preliminaries, students have
been busy practicing on the track . In order to  celebrate this  great 
event, each department is holding contests for its students.Classes 
from the Junior High Department will be competing against each 
other  in  a  cheerleading   contest  for  the  performance this year.
The Bilingual Department has organized a marching contest, and 
students  from  the  Elementary  Department  will  be   designing
Field Day posters in a contest.

Mr. Ging-Guo Ma Elected New PTA President
PTA  committee  members  were elected on October 26 this year. 
Mr. Ging-Guo Ma of ITRI was selected by all standing committee
members  to  become  the new   President   of   the   NEHS  PTA.  
Congratulations to Mr. Ma and special thanks to former President 
Huang for her contribution. 

Innovative Curricula Award in NEHS, School Year of 2001~2002
This   is  the  fourth  year  PTA  sponsors an innovative curricula 
award  for  teachers  who  research  and  develop   new   curricula. 
Fourteen  award - winners   were   chosen  after a  careful judging 
process. Congratulations to all the  winners  and  special thanks to 
our PTA for their support. 

Principal Tai Attends Cross-Strait Principals' Forum in Shanghai
Principal  Tai was  invited  to   attend   the   East China  Normal 
University's 50th Anniversary where  a  forum  for  cross - strait 
principals  was  held  between the 15 th and  21st  of  October  in  
Shanghai.   She  presented  a  paper, entitled " An Advanced and 
Practical Plan on Future -Oriented Curriculum  for  Principalship 
Education",  to  fellow  colleagues.  During her stay in Shanghai, 
Principal  Tai also visited  the local   schools  and  hoped  to  see  
more  interchange  between  NEHS  students  and  teachers  and 
their counterparts in Shanghai.

Teaching Presentation in Kindergarten Department
In   order   to   better   the    relationships   between  the   Hsinchu 
Educational   Bureau   and    the    various   kindergarten   teachers  
throughout Hsinchu, our  school's  Kindergarten Department  was  
asked  to  help  with the  2001  Hsinchu   Kindergarten   Teaching 
Presentation Program. On  October  16th ,  approximately   eighty  
kindergarten   teachers   came   to  our school .  They   visited   the 
classrooms in the Kindergarten Department and  attended sessions 
held by Professor  Hong-fei  Cheng and Ms.  Chong-wen  Chang. 
Hopefully, this  exchange  of  ideas  and  experiences  will  further 
improve the quality of kindergarten education.

Renowned History Professors Invited to Host Thesis Writing Workshops
In order to improve the language  proficiency  and researching and 
analytical  abilities  of  students  as  well as to provide basic training
in the  writing of short theses, the library has especially  invited  the 
renowned  Professors  Huang  Yi - Long  and  Chang  Yuan of the
Tsinghua University of History Department to host two workshops. 
The  workshops  ,  "  Research  Methods  and  Thesis  Writing   on 
Technology  and  Humanities " and "Research Methods and  Thesis  
Writing on History," are scheduled on Saturdays during November 
and December. All sophomores and juniors are encouraged to sign 
up  and  attend .  These  two  workshops  are  the first of a series of 
educational   activities   arranged  for  the  purpose   of    enhancing 
students'  library  skills.  Keep an eye out for information on  more 
activities coming up soon!

Halloween at NEHS
Halloween (October 31st) is a special day to put on a costume and  
scare   your   friends  and   families . Various  activities  were  held
throughout  the  school  to celebrate  this  day.  The  Art  of  Living   
elective  class  invited   everyone  to  their  Haunted  House  in  the 
basement of the gym to test their nerves. The  kindergarteners  and 
the  first  and  second   grader  put  on  costumes  and,  led by their
teachers, went to each teachers' office for a grand annual harvest of 
candies.  The  Bilingual  Department , supported by the PTA, held
an  activity  that  took place  in the quadrangle. Students  expressed  
their  own  creativity   and   applied  makeup  on  their  faces,  then
afterwards, pictures are taken for memories. These events were all 
successful and brought a happy ending to this year's Halloween.

Exciting Performance Given by Yu-shian Dancers
On November 2nd, the Elementary Department invited  Yu-shian  
Junior  High's  dancing  class  to  perform for students, in the hope
that  elementary  students  will  develop an appreciation of dancing. 
Many  numbers  were performed, from the graceful "Duen Huang
Flying  Dance "  to  the  earth - shaking "Crouching  Tiger, Hidden  
Dragon  Dance "  to  the  lively  " Jazz  Dance. "    Throughout  the  
performance ,  the  dancers  onstage  and  the audience below were 
equally absorbed in the dancing. Thanks to the dancers of Yu-shian
Junior  High  for  their  unforgettable  performance .  We hope that 
there will be more chances in  the future for them to perform at our
school.

Patriotic Singing Fills the Skies
The   High  School  Department's  patriotic   singing  contest  on 
October 24 exemplified the creative and transcending spirit of our 
school. Not only did every  class  march  magnificently, creativity 
characterized the changing rank formations, gestures, and singing.
