三月十九日 全校熱烈慶祝實中二十一歲生日

本校二十一週年校慶活動於三月中旬起陸續展開,不但有學生作業展、社團展示及表演、生物科技推廣活動展覽及研討會、教師才藝表演、高三學生樊敖宣個人畫展、中國年俗活動週等系列活動,更於校慶十九日當天上午八時三十分起在活動中心由各部展現最精采的表演活動,以及全校園遊會、跳蚤市場及民歌比賽等,熱熱鬧鬧過生日。活動精采,歡迎全校人員以及家長、來賓熱情參與。

  

高三學生 大學學測成績優異

大學學測成績於二月二十六日公佈,新竹地區共三位達到七十四級分:徐邦瀚、王涵及張育綸,均為本校高三學生。本校高中部一百二十六位應屆畢業生,表現優異,共有九十人,即百分之七十三,達到頂標。各科滿分人數如下:國文科三人,英文科二十九人,數學科十八人,社會科十人,自然科三十五人
。吳校長特別於集合時間感謝教師們的辛勤教導,獎勵同學們的奮發努力,更期勉此次學測未達理想成績的同學,再接再勵,繼續為七月份的指定科目考試作準備,校方必全力支援配合。預祝今年全體高中畢業同學,順利進入理想的大學科系!

智慧鐵人創意競賽 本校高中部團隊 嶄露頭角

由教育部主辦的2004年創造力教育博覽會智慧鐵人創意競賽,於二月九日至十三日在台北市士林區國立台灣科學教育館連續舉辦初賽、決賽及頒獎儀式。本校參賽的兩支隊伍各由五位高一及六位高二學生組成,在黃紋瑜老師及施建輝老師指導下,從初賽一百三十四隊、決賽二十三隊中脫穎而出,僅次於北一女中、建國中學、及薇閣中學參賽隊伍,贏得全國第四及第五名的佳績。此競賽不但需要創意,也考驗體力、耐力以及團隊默契。進入決賽的隊伍,更是關在科教館的實驗室七十二小時,以團隊合作及多元能力,每隊要闖四輪十六關,並製作主題樂園模型。參賽學生都覺得緊張、刺激又好玩。本校高中部同學,何不相約今年暑假,組隊參加下一次的創意競賽,與他校英雄痛快大戰七十二小時!(得獎名單詳見榮譽榜)

雙語部學生藍培儷、林芹卉及譚安 獲全國音樂比賽冠軍

由教育部主辦之九十二學年度全國學生音樂比賽於三月六日在台中市至善國中禮堂舉行。雙語部學生藍培儷(十年級)、林芹卉(九年級)及譚安 (八年級)以小提琴、鋼琴及大提琴三重奏演奏布拉姆斯及貝多芬的樂曲,贏得全國高中職 B 組冠軍。這三位同學在課業繁忙之餘,還能以多年努力所練就的精湛琴藝,合作練習,勤奮不輟,從全國高中職校,甚至音樂班學生隊伍中脫穎而出,得到專業評審的讚賞肯定,獲此殊榮,為校爭光,實屬難得,特此恭賀!

圖書館展出2004年科學週「生物技術」主題特展

財團法人資訊工業策進會為推動全民科學教育活動,特規劃2004年科學週-「基因、生命科學、生物技術」主題特展,至全國八縣市展出。本校獲選為新竹市展出單位,定於三月十五日至十九日,在圖書館一樓以平面表版、電腦多媒體、科學影片放映等方式,展出生物科技應用與環境等相關資訊,並於二十四日下午兩點於第一會議室舉辦研討會,歡迎各界人士蒞臨指導。

教育部「初級資訊種子學校」訪視小組 蒞校輔導「資訊融入教學」

教育部「初級資訊種子學校」訪視小組將於三月二十四日蒞臨本校訪視國小部「資訊融入教學」之具體實施成果。國小部自民國九十二年七月獲選為教育部所補助培訓之「初級資訊種子學校」,即由曾良惠主任帶領汪金后等七位教師組成教師團隊,積極參與各項相關培訓工作;不但參加「種子學校團隊培訓課程」、系列座談及觀摩等活動,進行深入的研討,更逐步將資訊運用於教學當中,如增購硬體設備以建構資訊環境以及補助團隊教師參加研習並自製教學媒體及教材等,具體減輕學生學習負擔,並且充分增加學習效果,成效斐然。在此竭誠歡迎並感謝教育部訪視小組蒞校指導!

MARCH 19 MARKS THE TWENTY-FIRST 
ANNIVERSARY OF NEHS

The school's anniversary celebration falls on Friday, March 19 this year. Students and teachers will be proudly showcasing their many talents and abilities through school-wide activities, talent shows, the flea market, and fun-filled competitions. All students and parents are invited to attend this glorious occasion! 

PREMIER YU RECEIVES WARM WELCOME
DURING HIS VISIT
 

Premier Yu, along with twenty other leading authorities from the Executive Yuan, visited NEHS on February 11. Principal Wu led teachers and students in giving the visitors an enthusiastic welcome. A sound performance by the Wind and String Orchestras of the High School Department was followed by a lively show from the Bilingual Department cheerleaders, and finally the Kindergarten Department performed a cute Dragon Dance. Excited students were rewarded with autographs and pictures with the Premier. During his visit, Mr. Yu also attended a brief given by Principal Wu in the First Conference Room on "The Recruiting of Foreign Talent." The premier's visit, though short, was thrilling and pleasant.

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PERFORM
SPECTACULARLY ON STANDARDIZED TEST

The seniors of the High School Department performed very well on the scholastic achievement test taken on February 2 and 3. NEHS students Bang-han Hsu, Han Wang, and Yu-lun Chang were the only three students to attain scores of 74 out of 75, the highest in the Hsinchu area this year. Of 126 graduating students in the High School Department, ninety students scored in the top twenty-fifth percentile (with scores of 60 and above). Principal Wu congratulates these students for their outstanding performance and encourages those who are studying for the test on assigned subjects in July. 

HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS WIN FOURTH AND FIFTH
PLACES AT IRONMAN COMPETITION

The 2004 Creative Education First Exposition hosted by the Ministry of Education was held from February 9 to 13 at National Taiwan Science Education Centre in Taipei. Through continuous competition of initial round and final round, two teams from NEHS, led by teachers Wen-yui Huang and Jien-huei Shi, stood out from 134 participating teams to win fourth and fifth places, only after the teams from Taipei First Girls' High School, Taipei Municipal Chien-Kuo High School, and Private Wego High School. The Ironman Competition tests physical ability, patience, and teamwork. Each of the teams that entered the final round worked alone in a lab at the National Taiwan Science Education Centre for seventy-two hours. Every team went on four rounds of sixteen competitions and also produced a theme model. All the participating students felt the event was challenging, exciting, and fun. 

BILINGUAL STUDENTS WIN FIRST PLACE AT
NATIONAL MUSIC CONTEST

2004 National Student Music Contest, hosted by the Ministry of Education, was held on March 6 at Tze-shan Junior High School in Taichung city. Three Bilingual Department students Audrey Lan, Natalie Lin, and Andrew Tarn, playing the violin, the piano and the cello respectively, won the first place in the category of high school piano trio. Congratulations to those three students for the great honor they attained! 

NEHS LIBRARY TO DISPLAY 2004 SCIENCE
WEEK “BIOTECHNOLOGY” EXHIBITION

The Institute for Information Industry is hosting a special exhibition tour on genetics, life science, and biotechnology in eight counties in Taiwan to promote nationwide science education. NEHS is one of the exhibition stops. From March 15 to 19, there will be panel displays, computer multimedia, and science films on the first floor of the school library. Please come and take a look.

MINISTRY OF EDUCATION SUPERVISION TEAM
WILL VISIT NEHS

The supervision team from the Ministry of Education will visit our elementary school on March 24 to supervise our use of information science aids in teaching. The elementary school was elected one of the "Elementary Level Information Science Pioneer Schools" sponsored by the Ministry of Education in July 2003. This project at NEHS, led by Dean Liang-Hwei Tzeng, has actively involved 7 teachers, who have worked step by step to utilize information science methods in the teaching process, including the purchase of more hardware equipments. We welcome the Supervision Team to NEHS and express our gratitude for the continuous support from the Ministry of Education.
