Edwin Jeng
When I went to the farm, I saw many
things. First I saw a lot of different types of plants. Then I saw
some Taiwanese barbeque. We used the Taiwanese barbeque to cook
chicken, corn, and sweet potatoes. The chicken and corn were very
good. After that, we went to see some ancient farming tools. We
got to try out two of them. After that activity was finished, we
went to look at an ancient house. It was in a design of three
straight houses. When our trip was almost over, we went to ride an
ox cart. It was fun, but kind of stinky. Finally, we went to make
ropes out of grass. We played jump-rope with the ropes we made,
and lastly, we left the farm.

~校外教學的開始~
I think the field trip was fun. My
favorite parts are when we get to
焢窯 and
sit on the ox cart. I like the old farming tools. They look fun.
We got to try them out. One was very easy.
The other one was very hard. We got to push
something round and round.
~牛車~
I like sitting on the ox cart. I saw some
lambs on the way. They were cute. After the ride, we got to sit on
the cow’s back. We even got to feed the cows! I fed them some
grass. First, the cow sniffed it, when he thought it was good
grass, he then ate it.

~焢窯~
I think in this field trip, there are many fun
things. But the thing I enjoy most is the
焢窯. At
first, our group kept on building it higher and higher, and we
made it with the big rocks on top of the smaller rocks. We kept
starting over and over again. At last, a farmer helped us build
it. Then, we lighted the fire and put wood in the hole. After
that, we put the chicken leg and corn in the hole. Then, we waited
for one or two hours until we could eat.
草繩Ropes~
After lunch, we made a hand-made rope. It
was fun. We had three groups. All of the girls are in one group.
We took turns doing a part of the rope. When it was finished, we
used it for a jump rope.

Hi everyone! I am Shannon Chow. Last
Friday, we went to 南埔村.
At first, we looked over all the plants in the farm. I saw a
farmer trimming the rice. It was cool! Then we went to look at
水車.
Next, Guess what? We had to go up all of the stairs to go cook
potatoes, corns, and chicken. When we got there, we had to use
lots of rocks to build something, like a volcano. In our group,
the rocks kept falling and falling. I still kept going! Suddenly,
an old man (farmer) came over and knocked down our rocks. He said
that we didn’t make the rocks steady. Finally, the rocks were made
up like a volcano! The next step was to put up the fire and put
all the food in the volcano. When we were waiting for lunch, the
teacher led us to a place where we could see all the farming
tools. One hour later, we went back to check the volcano oven, the
corn, the potatoes, the chicken were all cooked and ready. Yum!
Yum! That is all about Friday, 12/9/05! There are more fun things
that happened to me in 南埔村
farm. Go and check it out! I’m pretty sure that you will have fun.

早上天氣很好，大家坐著遊覽車到南埔農場。我們在車上又吃又玩，很快的就到達目的地了。
到了農場，我們參觀了農具博物館、三合院、焢窯和牛車。而我覺得最有趣的是焢窯和牛車。我們用焢窯烤玉米和地瓜，因為有農夫的幫忙，我們這組第一名呢!
還有，我們搭了很酷的牛車，牛很強壯，總共載了八個人喔。最後，我覺得那天很好玩，還想再去。J

Hi! I
went on a field trip on Friday, December 9th, 2005 to
Nan Pu Farm. When we reached there, we went to look at how they
harvest their crops nowadays. Then, we went to see an old water
wheel, how it works and where the water goes. I learned that the
water in the wheel waters the crops. After that, we went to build
our 焢窯,
a thing we cook our food in. While resting, a lot of people were
drinking 彈珠汽水
(marble soda). I drank one too. Inside, there was a pretty blue
marble. We watched a movie about how the early farmers plant crops
and harvest them. I also learned what tools they used. For
example: 風鼓.
We learned how to use it. We went to check on our food. It was not
done yet, so we went to play a swing that can hold six people. It
was one of the things I thought was the most fun because it felt
like somebody was rocking you. I was also scared because the other
students wanted it to go very high. I think it would be more fun
if the swing went lower. I went to feed the goats too. It’s mostly
the big ones that are eating. Finally, it was our lunchtime. We
had a chicken leg, a piece of corn, sweet potatoes, and milk tea.
After that, we went to the tools museum. We saw what the farmers
wore when it’s raining, and where they kept the chickens. Then, we
made a jump rope out of grass. Finally, we rode the cow cart. I
think it was also very fun because we got to sit on the back of
the cow to take a picture afterwards. But I was scared because I
might fall down anytime. It was a very fun and exciting day for
me.

On Dec. 2nd, 2005, the third
graders and us (fourth graders) went together on a field trip.
First, we went to a place where there was a lot of rice. So
everybody went to pick them. We also saw a machine called “收割機.”
It was used to collect the rice. Then we went to see a “水車”,
it turns around like a Ferris wheel, and it carries water around.
The water came from a “水圳.”
It is really long. So the guide said that you could put a leaf in
the 水圳,
and the faster it floats, the luckier you are. We rested for a
while and we set off for our next thing to do. It was to climb a
mountain. It was made out of steps and it was really high. We
looked at the view from the top. It was very pretty. After we got
to the bottom of the mountain, we went to “焢窯.”
They put chicken, sweet potato and corn inside the rocks that they
built up. We also put sticks in it to let it burn. While we were
waiting, we went feeding the sheep. They ate the leaves of the
corn. We also went to buy “彈珠汽水.”
It was very good. After that we went to a place where there were
ancient tools. One of them was called “風鼓.”
There was a handle and you had to turn it around. It was really
fun! There were also two other tools. One of them is used to sort
the different kinds of rice. The other one is used to separate the
shell and the rice. They were really fun to try too! When the
焢窯
was ready, we started lunch. It tasted so good, especially the
chicken. When our tummy was already full, we went to sit on a
牛車.
First we sat in a cart that the cow was pulling. Then, we just sat
on the cow! After we got off we even got to feed the cow. They ate
grass and flowers. They were really cute. When we were walking
around we saw a “三合院”
which looked really cool. Our last activity was to make “草繩.”
We used a tool like this: O====O. It was really fun! I think this
is an interesting field trip because since we are learning these
facts in the book, we can see it in real life. So I really enjoyed
this fun field trip.

這學期的校外教學地點是南埔生態村。我很喜歡玩石臼和風鼓。可是我在玩風鼓的時候，我的手被風鼓的把手刺到了。結果我的手流血了，本來很痛，可是我還是想要推石臼碾米。另外我覺得爬山很好玩，因為可以在山上撿油桐花的種子。我喜歡坐牛車。有人卻說如果你採到牛大便，考試就會考一百分。我覺得作草繩很好玩，因為作完草繩之後，就可以用來當跳繩了。我們全班在作焢窯的時候，很好玩。第一次堆石頭的時候堆得很久，別組都已經準備點火了。第二次堆石頭的時候又不小心崩掉了。所以就有人來幫我們堆焢窯。後來我還去餵羊吃草呢。中午吃飯的時候，我發現我們全班一起作的焢窯裡面的雞肉特別的好吃。後來我的朋友還請我喝彈珠汽水。我喜歡這次的校外教學，希望等你們看完這篇作文之後，也開始喜歡南埔生態村，也希望你們來體驗農村生活。我覺得如果你們來這的話，一定會喜歡推石臼碾米、編草繩、坐牛車、焢窯、開窯、吃雞肉、玉米烤地瓜等活動。

這一次校外教學我們去北埔鄉南埔村玩。我最喜歡的是吃從焢窯拿出來的食物。我們吃了地瓜、玉米、雞腿。吃完飯後，我們就去坐牛車。牛的力氣好驚人，可以拉大約十個人!
難怪牠們能在田裡幫忙，我現在知道在田裡工作很辛苦。我覺得這次的校外教學很棒，因為又好玩，又學到了東西。
