Senior Students’ Oil-Painting Replicas to be Displayed in Chubei Art Gallery

The fifth annual High School Senior students’s oil-painting replicas will be displayed from 5/13 to 5/26 at the Chubei Art Gallery. There will be a total of 118 oil-paintings on display this year; senior students have been working since the second semester of junior year to complete this series of replicas of Western art. Under the guidance of art teacher Hsu Pei-mei, students first learned the basics of oil-painting and observed countless works before picking their favorite to use as a model. Like Ms. Hsu said, this is the invaluable experience of “learning from the master.” Throughout this process, students not only improve their artistic skills but also build their will and endurance, and learn to balance their time between painting and academics. The difficulty level of this year’s works was higher than that of previous years, with more students choosing portraits of people. Compared to landscape paintings, people portraits take proportions and skin tones into account. The senior students sincerely invite all of NEHS to admire their artwork at the Chubei Gallery. Congratulations and good luck to the senior class for such an accomplished display

NEHS Hosts the "Northern District Nursing Seminar"

Administered by the Ministry of Education, our school’s Student Affairs office held the “Public and Private High Schools Nursing Staff Workshop” on April 17 at the school gym. A total of a hundred or more people participated in the event. Some of the workshops in the presentation included: “An Introduction and Specific Approach to the Promotion of School Health”, “Tobacco Control”, “Campus Walks Slimming Program”, “How to Deal with Common Injuries on Campus”, and “Health Center Operation and Management.” Sanitation coordinator Miss O says that her section is actively organizing teacher study session to instruct the teachers on how to face common accidents, such as: collision injuries, stab wounds, sports injuries, heat stroke, etc. Teachers will then understand how to proceed with emergency treatment or first aid, in order to avoid greater harm to the injury.

Mother's Day Musical Recital Hosted By IBSH

In the afternoon Weekly Meeting hour of May 6th, the seventh through twelfth graders of the IBSH celebrated Mother's Day with composing artists Wei-Chuan Chen and Wen-Yu Luo in the gymnasium. The performance started with the playing of the music video for their song "Seed of Hope," encouraging the students to spread the seed of hope through helping others in society. Chen and Luo performed various songs by request and improvised on the feet, firing up the atmosphere to new heights. The recital ended with Luo's anectdote about his mother and his song expressing his love to her. The music touched every heart, preparing everyone for a great Mother's Day this year.
