Congratulations to Mr. Peter Lin for Being
Elected as this year¡¦s PTA President
The election of the PTA took place on October
8th. Thirty-one new PTA members were chosen, of which nine were
nominated. In the end, Mr. Peter Lin was selected as the
President, with Mrs. Lin, Mrs. Dong, and Mr. Kuo as
Vice-Presidents and Mrs. Huang as the treasurer. The
inauguration will take place during the Field Day opening
ceremony on the 10th of November. We wholeheartedly thank
President Lin as well as the other PTA members for their
enthusiastic services and contributions last year. We hope that
the PTA and the school will have a pleasant school year.
The High School Department Shines in the
Competitions
The 2012 SpringSoft Creativity Contests
hosted their finale on 9/1 (Sat.) in the Kuang-Fu High School.
Our junior students, Shin Yi Wu, Yun Ya Wang, Shuan Ya Yu, Jia
Hao Jiang, Szu Yu Chen, and Li Wei Chan, from the High School
Department, received the awards of Excellence and Best Display.
Special thanks to teachers Ms Lin and Mr. Chen for their
instruction. Furthermore, our school did a very great job in
2012 National High School Geography Olympiad. In this
competition, Fan Gen Sun received First Place in the Singles;
Jun Chen, Guo Yo Tseng, and Yo Lin Chon received Excellent Work
for their group essay; Yun Chun Chen, Yi Han Chiu, and Yi Shin
Wu also received Excellent Work for their group essay. Special
thanks to Dean Liu, Mr. Lin and Ms Chen for their instruction.
IBSH Hosted the HSINMUN VIII Conference
Hosted by the Bilingual Department, the
HSINMUN VIII Conference was held at NEHS from October 13th to
14. The participants came from all over Taiwan including
National Experimental High School, Tainan First Senior
Highschool, Tainan Girls’Senior High School, National Nanke
International Experimental High School, National Taichung First
Senior High School, American School in Taichung, Taipei American
School, and others, adding up to a total of 17 schools and over
450 participants. Because of the large number of participating
students, the conference was split into ECOSOC, Security
Council, the Human Rights Committee, and GA1, GA3, GA6, so that
every person would get an opportunity to join in. Topics such as
complexities in the Middle East to other controversial topics,
the future of Iran as well as concerns over nuclear security in
South Asia, and economic aid to Iraq and Afghanistan were
debated. As the Ministry of Education strongly promoted
international education, the MUN conference and the debate of
worldwide issues allowed Taiwan’sHigh School students to foster
international awareness, strengthen worldwide competitiveness,
create feelings of global responsibility, and work towards the
skills needed to enter the international stage. Students spoke
in English during the course of the whole conference, from
lobbying, speech-making, debates, till the passing of
resolutions.
The Academic Affairs Office hosts Global
Multicultural Curriculum
The Academic Affairs Office is hosting the
2012 lobal Perspective: Multiculture onnect with the
World?series of lectures. Dr. Jwin-Jia Chang, a geography
professor of the National Taiwan Normal University, is invited
to give the lectures. Topics include: egional Construction: The
World Created by Nomadic and Agricultural Thinking on December
7th, eople of the Ocean: The EU Boundary Expansion
Cogitation on December 14th, and escendents of the Land:
Cultural Fate of the Black Africans?on December 21th. High
school and vocational students, teachers, and parents are
encouraged to attend. The lectures will take place in the
Chinese classroom of the Technical Arts Building from 13:10 to
16:10.
Guidance Office hosts a series of Development
Programs
The counseling office of NEHS High School
Department is planning a series of Development Programs again
this semester. First, they have invited the school's retired
guidance teacher Ms. Luo to lead a "Youth Guidance Knowledge
Class", teaching the parents of young adults how to help
children develop wisdom and learn to control their emotions.
Also, the acclaimed "Group Development for Teachers and Local
Community Parents" program has invited Ms. Chen, one of the
hosts from IC Broadcast Company, to be the main speaker. Through
the viewing and discussing of movies such as "Machuca", "Dust in
the Wind", "Examination 1977", and "I Wish", the program will
explore the many faces of life, nurture the growth of the
spirit, and help participants build a harmonious life.
