Chiba Prefectural Funabashi Senior High School Visits NEHS

On March 17 (Mon.), 21 students and teachers led by Mr. Akimoto visited our school to exchange scientific research results. Funabashi Senior High School is a prefectural-run science school, and hopes to present the results of scientific research to our students for mutual comparative learning. The students of H204 are responsible for their arrival, who enthusiastically prepared shows and gifts for them in order to please and celebrate their coming. The highlights of the science fair include posters of experimental results from a Funabashi student, presented with high-quality pictures showing scientific phenomena with an ipad in order to capture the essence of this experiment and break the language barrier. The next noteworthy experiment, led by an NEHS student, shared their experiences throughout a year of plowing using the powerpoint. Both student bodies, with science as their mutual interest, ignited their passion for constructive interaction. After the day-long event, the Japanese and Taiwanese students formed a friendly bond through scientific research and communication, and also received fruitful knowledge from each other. Our school plans to visit their school this year in order to form a long-lasting bond between the two schools, stimulating international exchanges and encouraging students to become global citizens.

[Express your creativity. Imagine the future]!

Since August 2011, The Ministry of Education has been carrying out a three-year plan for [High School Future Imagination and Creativity Talent Training]. The teachers Ms. Lin-Tsiou Liu and Ms. Huei-Qing Feng have lead our school's participation in the first year section of this plan [Think Different --- Cross-Disciplinary Creative Courses for Futuristic Thinking], and the response from the middle-school administrators and teachers has been enthusiastic, with excellent results. The second year plan [Then and Now --- A Rhapsody for the Future World] further received an award from the Ministry of Education for being an exemplary school for [Creation of a Futuristic and Imaginative Campus]. The plan integrated imaginative aspects of the future with the teachers' education philosophy, students' learning motivations, and the school's infrastructure to create an environment for learning that nurtures a creative, forward-looking perspective. This connects the three big themes of ¡§Future Technology¡¨, ¡§Future Society¡¨, and ¡§Future Space¡¨, focusing on the connections and synergies between different subjects, creatively introducing visions for the future and the effects of the present-day values held by individuals and societies on future societal development.
