賀! 張晏祥勇奪國際國中科學奧林匹亞競賽競賽金牌
2014年第11屆國際國中科學奧林匹亞競賽(International
Junior Science Olympiad,簡稱IJSO)於103年12月2~11日於阿根廷(Argentina)門多薩(Mendoza)舉辦,共有來自全球41個國家234優秀學生同台競技,本校國三4班張晏祥同學一路過關斬將,為我國摘下一面金牌(我國代表團6位學生共榮獲1金5銀)!!國際國中科學奧林匹亞競賽係為培養青少年對科學的興趣,整合科學相關學科(數學、物理、化學、生物及地球科學)所舉行的國際競賽,同時提供喜愛科學的青少年學生參與國際競賽拓展視野的機會,參賽者須為未滿16歲之學生。感謝陳惠珠老師的辛勤指導。
本校勇奪多項全國JHMC國中數學競賽金牌
2014年JHMC國中數學競賽於12月20日在全國六區同步登場,全國共有752隊3760位優秀學生參賽。本校國中部表現非常傑出,超越去年勇奪第十一屆JHMC團體金牌,再度榮獲多項團體及個人金牌!在全國三面團體金牌獎中,本校國三4班張晏祥、國三2班曾元、吳陽禾與國二5班王師宇組成的411隊及國三4班陳維皞、國二3班袁昕德、國三2班陳璿筑、國三4班王俐心組成的小大隊即囊括二面金牌。而全國個人金牌獎則完全由411隊的王師宇、張晏祥、吳陽禾等三位同學包辦。此外,由國三5班王昊謙、國三1班孫書業、王奕方及國三3班宋毓洵組成的肅受侖隊也榮獲全國團體銅牌獎。今年的題目著重思維邏輯推理,同時也增加幾何類型的題目,比以往更具挑戰性,感謝陳惠珠老師、鄭鉅翰老師、陳國良老師及曾妙玲老師的辛勤指導。(更多得獎名單請詳第14頁榮譽榜)
教務處承辦「HCMC國中數學能力競賽」
由新竹市教育處主辦,本校教務處承辦的新竹市103學年度「HCMC國中數學能力競賽」(HsinChu Mathematics
Competition
)於103年12月6日(星期六)上午於本校盛大舉行,全市公私立國中共有188支隊伍總計750位學生同台競技,場面熱鬧激烈。HCMC數學能力競賽共分「個人競速賽」、「個人賽」、「團體賽」等三類,內容則涵蓋分數與量、代數、幾何、統計等四大領域。等三項。希望藉由此競賽培養學生專注思考、樂於思考、統整學習、合作學習的能力,強化學生學習數學的興趣,並藉此培養、發掘人才。此次競賽本校國中部再度創下佳績,榮獲多項團體及個人金牌!其中「落差有點小大」隊和「鉅漢說去旁邊玩沙」隊榮獲A組團體金牌獎,「GOLD」隊榮獲B組團體金牌;M205王師宇、M302吳陽禾、M203徐楷程及M305王昊謙則分別奪下A組及B組個人金牌;更多得獎名單請詳第14頁榮譽榜。感謝所有指導老師們的努力與辛勞。
歲末聯歡 本校各部慶祝聖誕感恩活動
隨著聖誕鈴聲響起,本校各部策劃一連串精采的歲末聯歡感恩活動。首先由12月17日(星期二)舉行的國中英語唱遊揭開序幕,接下來高國中部學務處策劃吉他社、熱音社、Acapella、管樂社、弦樂社、熱舞社、合唱團等社團於12月23至27日以活潑歡樂的樂曲與勁歌熱舞陪伴大家歡度聖誕。此外,今年學務處加入IC之音鞋盒送愛心活動,為山地偏鄉國小的小朋友們募集禮物;同時配合願景青年行動網協為本校國際志工服務的菲律賓Olango小島建立圖書館募集英文圖書。由雙語部家長策畫佈置的年度壓軸活動「歲末聖誕音樂會」亦於12月27日(星期六)熱鬧登場,活動由雙語部管弦樂團悠揚歡快的樂聲揭開序幕;由Ms

Lin老師編舞、雙語部全體老師參與的熱舞更獲得全場熱烈的掌聲。國小部則由「活力工作坊」於12月19日(星期五)端上年度大戲「2014幸福蔥油餅」,眾多教師同心協力粉墨登場,希望孩子們在歲末時節,透過觀賞感恩劇展,體會老師們對於品格教育寓教於樂的用心。幼兒園部則續開感恩列車,舉辦鞋盒送真情活動!由師生及家長齊心協力募集了許多禮物,分享愛心給偏鄉部落的孩子。
輔導室舉辦大學導航活動成果豐碩
為協助高三(Gr.
12)應屆畢業生順利申請理想的大學,高中部及雙語部輔導室策劃一系列大學導航活動。高中部輔導室共舉辦18場大學導航活動,共有來自紐約大學阿布達比分校、香港科技大學及國內臺灣大學、清華大學、交通大學等18個同大學/學系蒞臨本校介紹,讓應屆畢業生能對不同科系領域深入了解,找出自己未來的興趣。雙語部則舉辦33場次共計63所包含Cornell,
Rice,早稻田大學等來自美、加、日本、香港的學校至本校介紹,同時也邀請亞太美國學校、新竹荷蘭國際學校一起參與大學博覽會。

Wins Gold Medal in the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO)
The 2014 (11th) International
Junior Science Olympiad was held in Mendoza, Argentina on
December 2 to 11 with 234 exceptional contestants from 41
countries. M304 Yang Yong won the gold medal (Taiwan's 6
representatives won a total of one gold and 5 silver medals).
The IJSO is a competition targeted for youths with a passion in
the sciences with subjects including math, physics, chemistry,
biology, and geology. It is also a platform for students to
expand their views on a global context. Only students under 16
are allowed to participate. Many thanks to Ms. Chen for guiding
the students.
NEHS Wins Multiple Gold Medals at
National JHMC (Junior High Math Competition)
The 2014 JHMC (Junior High Math
Competition) was held on December 20 simultaneously at 6 regions
nationwide, with 3760 students from 752 teams participating.
NEHS's Junior High Department performed outstandingly,
surpassing their results at the 11th JHMC of the previous year
by winning many team and individual gold medals. Of the three
Team Gold Medals awarded nationally, two were obtained by teams
from our school: 411隊 and 小大隊. As for the individual gold
medals, all were obtained by the three students of 411.
Furthermore, 肅受侖隊
also won a Team Bronze Medal. This year problems had a special
emphasis on logical deduction and additional geometry problems,
making them more challenging than previous years. Many thanks go
to the teachers for their efforts. (For a detailed awards list,

Academic Affairs hosts the Hsinchu
Mathematics Competition (HCMC)
Hosted by the Hsinchu City's
Education Sector and NEHS, the 2014 Hsinchu Mathematics
Competition took place on the morning of December 6, with 188
teams (with a total of 750 contestants) participating in the
competition. The Hsinchu Mathematics Competition includes three
divisions - the individual speed challenge, the individual
challenge, and the group challenge. These challenges involve
mathematics concepts such algebra, geometry, and statistics. By
hosting this competition, the Hsinchu City Education Department
and NEHS hope to foster students?critical and positive thinking
abilities, organizational skills, and cooperation as well as
further their interests in mathematics.
Year-End Festivities: Each
Department Celebrates Christmas and Thanksgiving
With the ringing of the Christmas
bells, each department plans a series of exciting end-of-year
thanksgiving activities. The year-end festivities started off
with the Middle School English Musical Competition, followed by
performances from such clubs as the Guitar club, the Rock n Roll
club, Acapella, wind orchestra, string orchestra, dance club,
and the choir hosted by the Student Affairs Office during the
week of Christmas, and with merry music and energetic singing
and dancing, celebrated Christmas with everyone. Furthermore,
this year the Student Affairs Office participated in IC975
Shoebox Love activity, collected gifts for elementary students
in remote mountains, while simultaneously cooperated with the
Vision Youth Action in helping our school international
volunteer Olango Island in the Philippines to collect English
books. Decorated by the Bilingual Department PTA, the annual
Christmas Concert took place on December 27 (Sat). The program
begun with the Bilingual Department Orchestra; the Bilingual
Department teachers performance, choreographed by Ms. Grace Lin,
further garnered the approval and applause from the audience,
while the Elementary Department presented the " 2014 Blissful
Scallion Pancake"on December 19 (Fri). Lots of teachers worked
together put on make-up and performed on stage in the hopes that
amidst the year-end festivities, the children will understand
the teachers devotion to character building and teaching through
fun through watching the thanksgiving play. The Kindergarten
Department operated the Thanksgiving Train by hosting the
Shoebox Love activity. With the teachers and parents
cooperation, they were able to collect many presents to spread
the love to children of rural tribes.
The guidance offices host
successful University Exhibitions
To help this year’s graduates
successfully apply to their dream colleges, the High School
Department and IBSH guidance offices have planned a series of
university exhibitions. The High School Department has held 18
such exhibitions in total, which feature Waseda University from
Japan, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and
National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua University, and
National Chiao Tung University from Taiwan. The school welcomes
and introduces 60 different universities and majors in total in
hopes that this year’s graduating students can gain a deeper
understanding about different subjects and fields and seek out
their future interests. IBSH has also held 33 sessions totalling
63 visiting universities, including Cornell, Rice, Waseda
University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and
other universities from the U.S., Canada, Japan, and Hong Kong.
At the same time, we also invite Pacific American School and
Hsinchu International School to join us in our exhibitions.
