amusement park is something they feel they could never
reach. I also learned that there should be a backup plan
for everything. We had to adjust our teaching methods
because of Wifi problems and the children’s English level.

I realized that elementary students, especially or may
be just specifically first graders, enjoy activities. Rather
than staying in the classroom, the kids learned their colors
quickly through the game of color tag that we played out in
the play ground. Basically, whoever is it yells out a color
and tried to get to anyone who isn’t toughing that color. I
tutored the students at our school for community service
and compared to these students at shuangxi, they were
much more willing to sit down in the classrooms. Maybe
it’s because the time periods I teach them are shorter, their
English level is better, and that if is not during summer
vacation. But anyway, whenever I am giving a service
such as teaching, I must do so according to their needs in
order to give the best results, no matter what the task is.
In this case, the need was to basically make lessons fun STEP成員與老師
and interesting for 1st graders whose
level aren’t that good but actually
learn pretty fast. I’m actually pretty
surprised at how fast the first graders
            absorb the new information given
to them. During this trip, I also
practiced the art of remaining calm
when bees come. I experience the
            quality of seven-eleven food in
            depth. Most importantly, I’m glad
that I got this chance to learn so any
different things about each and every
member within the STEP club team.
I am so glad to have the chance to
get to know so many IBSHers who I
before did not pay much attention to.
Thanks, big thanks to everyone who
            made this experience awesome.

I learned that kids are easily
            bored; they mostly enjoyed games
outside the classroom and only a
few actually enjoyed looking out the
PowerPoint. Most kids also just need
a confidence boost. They know the
answer but aren’t sure, so they won’t
even want to try the activity.
                Things I learned that are
more general are things like stop
            procrastinating. I should have done
things as best as I could the first
time, such as the lesson plans. Also,
it was great to sleep early and wake
up earlier to do my personal stuff
            such as summer homework.
I think also, as a team, we don’t
exactly act like one? We have gotten
closer with everyone else, but it’s
            less working than playing around
with everyone. It was really fun so I
            hope others text the same.
