畢業典禮 隆重舉行

本校九十二學年度各部畢業典禮分別於六月九日 (高國中部)、十日 (雙語部)、十八日 (國小部) 及十九日   ( 幼稚園部)  在活動中心隆重舉行。典禮會場由高國中部許佩玫老師帶領多位畢業班同學以「竹與風」為主軸,設計佈置。典禮中,吳校長、畢業班師長、在校師生、及家長都將為畢業班同學獻上深深的祝福和期許。離情依依,祝福無限,本刊特地為這群即將離校的同學製作畢業專輯,國中部及高中部畢業專輯更由許佩玫老師指導畢業班學生自行設計編排,在此祝福畢業同學們展翅高飛、前程遠大。

本校加入「新竹市高中職社區化建構適性學習社區」為召集學校

本校於九十三學年度起,加入由教育部中部辦公室主導之「新竹市高中職社區化建構適性學習社區
」,並擔任召集學校。  此學習社區之目標有四 : 調整適性學習社區之地理範圍,逐漸形成合理之適性學習社區;強化適性學習社區基礎網絡,建立社區資源共享之互動模式;推動適性學習課程改進工作,完備社區課程類型;以及落實適性學習社區輔導網絡整合工作,提升社區教育品質。新竹市目前已有十二所高中職校參與此學習社區,新竹女中、新竹高商、新竹高中及世界高中則為核心學校;並由臺北市政府教育局、高雄市政府教育局及教育部中部辦公室擔任執行督導單位。預期將逐步推動適性學習之理念並嘉惠整體新竹地區之中等學校學生。

校園網路改道完成 品質益加穩定快速

實中校園網路於民國八十五年建置至今,於資訊融入教學及行政工作電腦化有長足之貢獻與成效。鑑於師生對網路品質與速度的需求與日俱增,並承蒙交通大學慷慨 (惠予) 支援,實中校園網路於四月起改以光纖連接至交大 TANet 新世代骨幹網路,校內IP 管理辦法亦同步重新調整,全校師生共同度過網路改道過程之不便,從此享有更穩定快速的網路品質。

高二數理實驗班 舉辦專題研究成果發表會

高二數理實驗班於六月一日下午一至五時,假多功能教室舉辦本年度專題研究成果發表會。高二四班共二十九位同學針對一年來分別在黃紋瑜、馮蕙卿、莊添丁及楊士模老師指導下,在數學、物理、生物、化學等領域所作之專題研究,以生動活潑的方式,提出嚴謹深入的報告。當天更蒙台北市立建國中學、國立新竹女中及新竹高中師生,應邀蒞校參與,讓各項研究專題,在熱絡的互動討論中,迸出更多元的火花,久久不散。

實中數位地圖設計比賽 獲獎名單出爐

一年一度的資訊應用競賽「實中數位地圖設計比賽」經本校「資訊教育發展委員會」提案通過,至四月二十日收件截止,共計有參賽作品191件。評審會由本校生活科技與人文藝術各領域共8位具有該領域專長的教師組成,歷經初審與複審會議,審慎選出得獎作品。數位地圖的創作是應用網路搜尋、資料統整、美感造型與電腦繪圖等能力的綜合展現,此次參賽作品踴躍,不少清新可喜、色彩豐富之佳作,教職員與校友組曾宏煇老師的作品更特別獲得評審青睞,獲頒「實中地圖獎」,將在實中網頁裡,為初來實中的訪客貴賓指點迷津。詳細得獎名單請見榮譽榜,得獎作品請連結電算中心網址http://web.nehs.hc.

管樂社期末發表會 樂聲悠美 氣氛溫馨

本校管樂社七十位社員在沈明尚老師指導下,於五月二十九日星期六晚間在科學園區管理局禮堂舉辦期末發表會,以「聽見世界的聲音」為主軸,跟四百位聽眾一起分享世界各地的美妙樂曲。當晚演奏的曲目有火焰之舞、波斯市場、傜族山歌等共八首完全不同風格的樂曲,現場觀眾一開始專注聆聽,悠然神往,接著越來越融入樂曲當中,到最後則是很自然的隨著樂曲韻律擺動身軀,氣氛溫馨而活潑。在此感謝沈老師的辛勤指導和家長的大力支持,也恭賀全體社員們勤奮不輟的努力練習所達到的美好境界

國小部英語競賽 成果豐碩

國小部英語實驗研究組及英語科教師為提昇學生的學習興趣,特於五月七日、十四日及二十一日上午分別舉辦六、五及四年級英語科班際學藝競賽。六年級同學進行英語小組朗讀比賽,五年級是班級團體英語朗讀比賽,而四年級則是英語歌謠比賽。各年段同學在英文教師指導及各班導師帶領練習之下,都有充分之準備,在舞台上無論是英文發音語調、姿態或表情皆十分生動自然,團隊合作極佳。評審老師感受到學生們在反覆的練習中不斷進步,非常稱讚,尤其同學之間的互相幫忙提昇,更是讓老師們非常感動,也期許同學們繼續在英語世界裡快樂前行!

國小部資優資源班畢業作品發表 活潑多元

國小部資優資源班於五月二十一日中午在多功能教室舉辦畢業作品發表會,進行專題研究報告、戲劇表演以及多媒體放映資源班活動剪影及手牽手MTV等活動,還以現場音樂演奏穿插串場。今年資優資源班共有二十位畢業同學,在洪素惠、田瑞貞、劉如加老師指導下,分別從事語文資訊、數學及自然科學的學習與研究,並提出針對德蘭中心、彩虹及「撞球桌上的數學」等特定主題所做的研究報告。研究內容豐富多元、呈現方式活潑生動,讓觀賞的同學們大開眼界;戲劇表演及音樂演奏更是展現了同學們的多才多藝,讓觀眾們讚賞連連。

A TIME OF FAREWELL ARRIVES FOR 
THE CLASS OF 2004 

NEHS 2004 Graduation Ceremonies will be conducted on June 9 (Junior and Senior High School Departments), 10 (Bilingual Department), 18 (Elementary Department), and 19 (Kindergarten Department) in the gymnasium. The decor of the gymnasium, with "Bamboo and Wind" as the theme, was by Ms. Hsu Pei-mei from the High School Department along with some graduates. In each ceremony, Principal Wu, teachers, students, and the parents will all be there to sincerely bless and congratulate the graduating students.

NEHS WORKS WITH ELEVEN SENIOR-HIGH 
LEVEL SCHOOLS IN HSINCHU CITY TO 
REINFORCE STUDENTS' OVERALL LEARNING 

Starting from Autumn 2004, NEHS will work with other eleven senior-high level schools including some regular high schools as well as some commercial and vocational senior high schools in Hsinchu city to fully create and utilize the city's educational resources to reinforce students' overall learning according to each student's aptitude. Some other peer schools are National Hsinchu Girls' Senior High School, National Hsinchu Commercial Vocational High School, National Hsinchu Senior High School, and World Senior High School. 

CAMPUS NETWORK REROUTES AND 
IMPROVES EFFICIENCY

The campus network has been an integral part of the school since 1996. Since the network needs of teachers and students have increased daily, the school accepted the National Chiao-Tung University's kind offer to share NCTU's TANet fiber-optic connection. After a period of inconvenience, teachers and students can now enjoy a more stable and faster network. 

JUNIORS OF THE MATH AND SCIENCE GIFTED 
PROGRAM HOSTS PRENSENTATION

In the afternoon of June 1, the juniors of the High School Department's Math and Science Gifted Program held a presentation to demonstrate the research results at the Multipurpose Room. Under the guidance of Ms. Huang Wen-yu, Ms. Fong Hwei-ching, Mr. Juang Tien-ting, and Mr. Yang Shi-mo, 29 juniors creatively presented their research results in the areas of mathematics, physics, biology, and chemistry. The students' outstanding performance together with the guests' valuable comments made the presentation a very successful one.

NEHS DIGITAL MAP DESIGN CONTEST 
WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The yearly "NEHS Digital Map Design Contest" had 191 participants this year. The eight judges were teachers who excel in either the arts or technology. Digital Map creation is an interdisciplinary work what combines web search ability, data sorting, artistic style and computer graphic design. The detailed winners list is on the Honor Bulletin. NEHS WIND ENSEMBLE HOLDS END-OF-
SCHOOL-YEAR CONCERT

NEHS Wind Ensemble and its 70 members performed on May 29, Sunday night, in the Science Park auditorium. With "Listening to the Sounds of the World" as their theme, the NEHS Wind Ensemble shared with the audience songs from all over the world. They played "The Lord of the Dance," "In a Persian Market," "A Legend from Yao" and 5 other songs of other cultures. The audience listened with great interest and pleasure. We hereby congratulate all members and Mr. Sheng Ming-shan for the successful performance!

ELEMENTARY DEPARTMENT ENGLISH 
COMPETITIONS MARK STRIDES OF IMPROVEMENT

With commencement in English studies in mind, the Elementary Department's English teachers set up a small group recitation contest, a large group oral recitation contest, and an English folk song contest for the sixth, fifth, and fourth graders, respectively. Each grade underwent extensive preparation, worked together with their peers, and as a group performed confidently on stage. The judges saw that each of the grades had improved their English skill vastly and encourage all students continue to further their studies in the English language.

ELEMENTARY DEPARTMENT GIFTED 
PROGRAM TAKES NEHS BY STORM

On May 21, the Elementary Department's Gifted Program hosted a graduation workshop where twenty graduating gifted students presented their research projects, plays, and even their multimedia presentations at the Multifunction Room. Under the instruction of their teachers, Ms. Tien Rei-jen, Ms. Liu Ru-chia and Ms. Hong Sue-huei, the students had completed projects ranging from St. Joseph's Orphanage, to rainbows, and to the geometry of billiard. They did a wonderful job and deserve another round of applause!
