三月十九日 全校熱烈慶祝實中二十二歲生日

本校二十二週年校慶暨親職教育活動於三月中旬起陸續展開書展、學生作業展、應屆畢業生油畫臨摹展、各國節慶研究展示以 及中國年俗活動週等系列活動,更於校慶十九日當天上午八時三十分起在活動中心由管樂隊熱鬧開場,各部展現精采的表演並隨後在全校各角落熱烈展開彩繪T-Shirt、民歌比賽、全校園遊會、跳蚤市場、中國年俗活動及美食大街、社團展示及表演等活動,熱鬧慶祝「實中,生日快樂!」。活動多元精采,歡迎全校人員以及家長、來賓熱情參與。


大學學測 高三學生成績優異 楊光瑋達滿級分


大學學測成績於二月二十三日公佈,本校高三學生楊光瑋為新竹地區唯一達到七十五滿級分者。本校高中部一百一十三位應屆畢業生,表現優異,更勝往年,共二十七人達到七十至七十五級分,比率高達百分之二十四。各科滿分人數如下:國文科十四人,英語科三十二人,數學科二十一人,社會科十二人,自然科五十三人。吳校長特別於集合時間感謝教師們的辛勤教導,恭喜同學們以多年持續的奮發努力,獲此佳績,也期勉此次學測未達理想成績的同學,再接再勵,繼續衝刺,準備七月份的指定科目考試。預祝今年全體高中及國中畢業同學,順利進入理想學府!


本校甄選九十四學年度國中部數理性向資優新生


為更有效經營本校國中階段資優教育,教務處已於本校網站公告甄選國中部數理性向資優新生十二名。凡符合本校國中部招生對象之各國小應屆畢業生,不受學區限制,均可報名參加甄選測驗。報名日期為三月二十五日(星期五),詳細簡章及報名表請至本校網站自行下載(http://www.nehs.hc.edu.tw),若有任何疑問,歡迎電話洽詢教務處(5777011分機210)。


本校高三學生美術課作品 新竹社教館展出


高三全體學生美術課油畫臨摹作品共一百一十三幅,承蒙教育部新竹社教館盧貞吉館長的支持與厚愛,將於三月二十二日至二十八日在該館展出!美術科許佩玫老師在吳校長及家長們的全力支持下,指導高中部的學生,利用一個學期,短短十六堂美術課認識油畫,並在放學之後,把沉重的考試壓力放在一旁,一筆筆專注的勾勒出他們心中美麗的影像,直到太陽西下。雖然辛苦,但學生們甘之如飴、也引以為榮,因為這不但是他們高中三年中難忘的回憶,更是他們成為真正「實中人」的必佩勳章。許老師說:「我們認為美感陶冶是促進健全人格與提升生活品質的基礎,這是個開始,我們懷著謙卑學習的態度,懇請各位先進不吝指教。」


董毓葳教授 蒞校演講「閱讀現代短篇小說選」


本校辦理高中職社區化適性學習社區研習活動,邀請甫自國立交通大學退休的董毓葳教授,自三月五日起至六月十一日止其中共八個週六上午九時至十二時,假國文專科教室,講授「社會人文經典閱讀-現代短篇小說選」。本校高二文組學生和本校及社區教師共約五十位師生,將由董教授以其豐富學養及優雅談吐帶領導讀張愛玲、白先勇、魯迅等多位近代大家的小說著作,期藉作者生平介紹及小說賞析涵養文學造詣及人生智慧。


『亞太地區創意教師獎』得主張佩瑜老師 蒞校演講


高國中部邀請『亞太地區創意教師獎』及教育部所頒『教學卓越獎』得主張佩瑜老師於三月三日下午二點在本校國小部多功能教室,演講「手繪旅行」。張老師為中山女高地理教師,從2001年開始自助旅行,每年出國一到兩趟,每次一個月,隨走隨畫,足跡遍及歐亞各國,更以旅行時所收集的圖片和自繪的漫畫來教學,風格獨特活潑,而獲得上述獎項。張老師當日的演講為本校辦理高中職社區化適性學習社區研習活動之一,吸引了共約一百五十位的本校高中部師生及社區人士,讓大家在驚喜連連之中大開眼界,為人生及教學都開啟了一扇新的視窗。


圖書館舉辦書展 並推行班級圖書計畫


為積極培養學生養成閱讀習慣、喜愛閱讀並透過閱讀拓展知識領域,以建構無限寬廣的閱讀世界,圖書館特於三月七日至十一日在二樓自習室舉辦中英文各類圖書書展,提供本校高國中部一、二年級班級圖書選項參考,並在某位家長熱心捐助下,由這些班級師生自行選定每班中英文圖書各四十冊作為班級圖書。預計自三月十八日起,此班級圖書計劃建置完成,高國中部一、二年級各班將擁有中英文班級圖書,必然受惠深遠。在此感謝此不願具名家長的慷慨捐獻。


輔導室舉辦「大學甄選入學輔導座談會」


輔導室李清垣主任及蕭雅安老師為幫助應屆畢業生實際瞭解大學甄選入學相關事宜,特於三月五日上午九至十一時,在第一會議室舉辦「大一校友返校座談-甄試經驗傳承」座談會。會中邀請了楊程安等五位去年剛進大一的優秀學長姐講述甄選入學第二階段面試和應考技巧的經驗分享,並由高三學生就甄選入學和考試分發分組直接就教於學長姐。與會學生及家長均感獲益良多,並深深感謝楊程安、李亞涵、林奕辰、胡皓婷及秦懷安五位畢業校友對母校學弟妹的熱忱關懷。系列輔導活動還有:三月十六日在第一會議室進行「備審資料撰寫指導」,以及三月二十日起開始「指定項目甄試模擬面談」。歡迎高三學生把握機會充分準備,若有任何升學相關問題,歡迎電詢輔導室李主任,學校分機270。


MARCH 19, NEHS' 22ND BIRTHDAY

To celebrate NEHS' 22nd birthday, school anniversary activities began in mid-March, which include book fairs, student work exhibitions, alumni oil-painting exhibitions, studies of global holidays, and traditional Chinese holiday games. On the 19, the school band starts the day by playing lively pieces in the gym, followed by department talent shows, t -shirt designing, singing contests, flea markets, the school fair, traditional Chinese games, club stands, and a food alley. All parents, teachers, and students are invited to participate in these cheerful events!


SENIORS RECEIVE FLYING COLORS FOR COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAM


Seniors of the Experimental Department performed astoundingly well in this year's college entrance exam. Yang Kuang-Wei(H3-4) received the only overall full score (75 grade points) in Hsinchu. Of the 113 seniors who took the test, 27 scored between 70-75grade points. At the weekly flag ceremony, Principal Wu thanked all teachers for their hard work, congratulated those who had done well, and encouraged those who had not received their ideal marks to keep on studying for the July college entrance exam. Good luck to the graduating classes!


NEHS SELECTS MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS FOR MATH AND SCIENCE GIFTED PROGRAM


In order to effectively manage the middle school gifted program, the administration posted information on the school webpage about selecting 12 new elite students for the gifted program. There is no school district elimination and all students who are qualified to apply to NEHS may participate in the examination. The deadline for registration is Friday, March 25. For more

OIL PAINTINGS GIVE REASON FOR PRIDE


Sixteen short art classes, hours of dedication after school, strong support from Principal Wu and the parents, as well as the guidance of art teacher Hsu all melded together to produce 113 beautiful oil paintings by all seniors of the High School Department. To be displayed at the Hsinchu Hall of Education from March 22 to 28, the paintings and the painstaking process of crafting them have given the artists a chance not only to create everlasting memories, but also to emerge as proud representatives of NEHS. We congratulate Teacher Hsu for her dedication to artistry, and the students, for a beautiful and priceless achievement.


PROFESSOR TUNG YU-WAY GIVES SPEECHES ON "SELECTED MODERN CHINESE NOVELLAS"!


NEHS has invited Professor Tung Yu-way, a retired professor from the National Chiao-Tung University, to give a series of speeches on "Selected Modern Chinese Novellas" in which the works by modern novelists such as Chang Ai-ling and others will be introduced and analyzed. The speeches are given to about fifty audiences at the Chinese Subject Classroom from 9 am to 12 am on total eight Saturdays from March 5 through June 11.


AWARD-WINNING TEACHER MS. CHANG VISITS NEHS


Ms. Pei-Yu Chang, who received the Award for Outstanding Teaching from the Ministry of Education and the Creative Teaching Award in the Asian-Pacific region, was invited to give a speech on "The Art of Traveling" at the Elementary Department Multimedia Room during 2 to 4 o'clock in the afternoon of March 3. Ms. Chang, who currently teaches geography at the Taipei Municipal Zhongshan Girl's High School, likes to draw and collect pictures as she travels and often uses them in her teaching. Ms. Chang's topic attracted over 150 students, teachers, and visitors. Ms. Chang amazed her audience by opening their eyes to a whole new realm of creative art.


LIBRARY HOSTS BOOK EXHIBITION


As an effort to cultivate students' reading habits and create a broad reading environment, the library held a book exhibition from March 7 to11 at the study room on the second floor of the library. The exhibition included Chinese and English books and was specially held for junior and senior high school students to select their own classroom books collections from. Much gratitude to an anonymous parent for donating a generous fund to the 7th, 8th, 10th, and 11th graders to purchase books for their own classes. Now each class has its own collection of books for leisure reading.


EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT GUIDANCE OFFICE HOLDS COLLEGE APPLICATION CONFERENCE


To assist seniors, Mr. Lee Ching-yuan and Ms. Shiaw Yia-an of the Guidance office held a college admissions conference on March 5 in the First Conference Room. Five alumni returned to share their personal experiences in facing interviews and taking college entrance exams. The students and parents who participated in this conference have benefited immensely and appreciate the helpfulness of the alumni. Seniors and their parents are welcome to call Dean Lee at ext. 270 for questions regarding the applications.
