Mr. Nathan Bryant
Hello students and families of IBSH. It is a great pleasure to
now be a part of this school community and I thank you for the
opportunity. My name is Nathan D. Bryant, and I am currently on
my sixth year of education. At IBSH I am teaching AP Economics,
US History and Geography, all to great students. I was born and
raised in Denver Colorado USA, also taught three years there
before I began teaching overseas. For the past two years, I have
been teaching in Dubai UAE under the IB program. As my picture
in the Roman Coliseum shows, I do love to travel. I have a
Bachelor’s with a double major of Political Science and
Philosophy. I also will be completing my Master’s program this
year of International Relations. For all of the students of IBSH
who struggle with completing research papers on due dates, I
feel your pain. Thus far I have been in Taiwan for a little over
a month, and already I feel very welcome. Everyone has been very
kind and helpful, and with my new Jeep, I have an objective of
seeing as much of Taiwan’s beauty as I possibly can. I love
learning about new cultures and meeting new people, so feel free
to introduce yourself. I am looking forward to a great year and
thanks again.
雙語部 Ms. Janice Duncan-Brown (or Mrs DB)
I was born in a small mountain village called Chipinge in
Zimbabwe and am one of 6 children. Zimbabwe was a wonderful
country to grow up in with wide open spaces, hiking in the
mountains, climbing trees, and riding our bicycles all over the
city.
I left Zimbabwe after graduating high school to go to
University in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, to study
Marketing. After graduating from university I toured Southern
Africa with a Christian drama company. Later, I met my husband,
Mark, while working in a hotel in Durban. Mark is a trained
elementary teacher and in 1998 we left South Africa for Taiwan.
I loved teaching so much that I studied part time and earned my
teacher’s certificate from UNISA (a correspondence university in
SA). Although I may not have started my working life as a
teacher, I feel that I have ended up in exactly the right place.
I love working with children of all ages and believe that school
should be a place where all children should feel safe, valued,
and have a sense of belonging. I started teaching at Hsinchu
International School in 2001 and taught both 3rd and 4th grade
while at HIS and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Mark and I
both really love living here in Hsinchu and feel very much at
home amongst the incredible children and friendly people. I have
really enjoyed being part of the Hsinchu community and have
participated in three dragon boat races and performed at a
number of Hsinchu government Chinese New Year Celebrations. I
have had some contact with IBSH over the years. I have
substituted a few times and it was my privilege to be part of
the UNICEF project a few years ago. I am excited about teaching
at IBSH this year and I’m happy to be working with you all. I
look forward to getting to know you all this year and believe
that this is going to be a wonderful year.

If you're on campus and you see two little blond toddlers
running around, with their harried parents racing after them,
you've likely just glimpsed the Poulsen family. Benjamin and
Ruth came here to teach Art and English, respectively, while
Sofia and Eve's sole purpose is playing with toys and eating as
many mangoes as they can get their grubby little hands on. Our
whole family loves drawing (well, scribbling, for some of us),
reading books, and trying all the delicious food Taiwan has to
offer.
雙語部 Mr. John Liu

forward to growing with the school.
