It is my utmost honor to be the host of these marvelous Japanese students. Through these two days of
conversation and exchanging social media networks (which I got the score of a big fat zero), I have learned
to appreciate Japanese culture, politeness, and ingenuity.
We started of with our performance, which was both awkward and boring. I am indeed proud to say that
I had no idea whatsoever of what I was doing. Then after the awkward group photoshoot, and the awkward
opening ceremony. It was their turn to present us with their scientific presentations. I was particularly
impressed by an experiment involving growing a type of winemaking germ called Kojikabi in an excess
gravitational environment. The experiment setup blew me away, their way of setting up a excess gravitational
environment is by growing the germ in a centrifuge, allowing the centrifugal force to balance with gravity,
creating a environment like that of space in close orbit of earth.
Then while trying to make the placopter with the Japanese students, Even though there was little
conversation, I was amazed with their intellect, however also recognizes their inferiority in thinking out of
the box. For example: When our placopter didn’t fly properly, their solution was mainly just to perfect the
original solution, such as cutting the straw in a straight line reducing friction, or cutting the placoter blades
in a different way making it less likely to break. However, my solution is to change the design in a way that
could make use of all the lift the placopter blades can give, while changing the material creating a longer
             placopter blade.
All and all, I think that the experience was very helpful, allowing me the chance to understand Japan and
its people, in turn know where are strengths are and where to improve.
