WASC國際教育認證評鑑　圓滿達成任務

本校雙語部於 2017 年 3月 12至16 日，接受 WASC 國際教育認證評鑑。這是雙語部自 2011 年以來，第二次大規模的訪視評鑑。由主任委員Mr. Keegan所率領的4人團隊在4天半的訪視期間，閱讀雙語部的自評報告、入班觀察老師上課、參觀學生課外社團活動和教學設施，並訪談家長、老師、學生、行政團隊、教育部和園區管理局長官。訪視團隊重視入班觀課，?調和教學現場第一線的師生對談。每天早上8點就開始和雙語部行政領導團隊開會，提出他們的問題，要求佐證資料及確認所觀察到的教學現象。在訪視結果的綜合報告內，委員肯定雙語部這6年來在釐清設校目標、撰寫教學課綱、互相觀摩學習教學方法、分析評量結果、加強學生個人輔導、增進家長老師的溝通、擴增教學設施及透明化經費使用流程等面向有顯著的進步。評鑑委員同意雙語部所自定往後3年的行動計畫：即加強教師之間的溝通協同和專業成長，嘗試評量學生在設校目標上的學習成果，並提出額外的改進建議。雙語部將針對這些建議修改行動計畫，報WASC 核定作為往後改進教學的策略，其改進成果將是下次訪視的審查項目之一。全體師生和家長更期待評鑑結果能拿到最好的成績，使雙語部持續被認定為不斷在進步的國際學校。

國大附小校長主任會議

106年度國立小學校長暨主任聯席會議於3月23日及3月24日兩天於新竹縣市舉行。此次會議為國立清華大學附設實驗國民小學承辦，並由本校國小部協辦。第一天的議程於本校校區進行。來自國北教大實小、政大實小、清華附小、臺中教大實小、嘉義大學附小、屏東大學附小、東華大學附小、臺東大學附小、臺北市大附小、高師大附中、南科實驗中學、臺南大學附小及本校等十三所國立小學的校長及各處室主任共105人，於3月23日齊聚實驗中學，開起一連串教育對話。會中針對十二年國教課綱、各校校本課程發展、亮點課程發展、跨領域或特色課程設計、優質友善校園之營造、各校輔導課程及輔導執行狀況等各種教育場域現況，提出討論及經驗分享。全台國大附小的校長及主任們得以藉由此次會議與他校進行溝通討論、汲取經驗、資源共享，期許能在未來的辦學之路上，為學生帶來最完善的制度與最大的福祉。

日本高知小津高校　蒞校參訪雙語部

日本高知小津高校於3月13日蒞校拜訪，參與本校雙語部課程。日方對於此次參訪行程十分重視，於前一年便派遣教師親自來台，至本校參觀、了解實中辦學理念，並與雙語部行政洽談參訪模式。故雖然來訪人數不多，但雙語部仍以嚴謹的態度進行高規格接待。除了日方教師提出的科學課程（物理、化學課程）要求之外，更安排了中文書法課程，書法老師評點作品後再讓日方師生帶回，更具紀念意義。來訪的每一位日生都配以一名接待朋友（shadow friend），接待朋友在每一堂課都帶著日本朋友跑班，並協助他們理解課程。雖然日本朋友的英文程度參差不齊，但他們誠懇的學習態度令人欽佩，也願意提供課程上的協助。高知小津高校認為此次蒞臨本校雙語部參訪收穫良多，希望能夠再次來訪，為實驗中學與高知小津高校兩方建立起長久的交流。

台南一中來訪　科學班課程校際交流

科學班為本校高中部特色課程之一，全台於98學年度起，共九所學校在教育部核准下始成立科學班。在科學班訪視委員建議下，台南一中由張添唐校長領軍，率領科學班共25名教師，於3月30日來到本校與科學班教師進行交流。在教務處的安排下，本校任教科學班的英文、歷史等科的教師與南一中科學班的教師針對教學與教育模式，展開一場熱烈的討論與教學經驗分享。藉由校際間的交流對話，兩校教師得以擴充視野並深化教學知識與方法，為兩校師生帶來的後續效益不容小覷。

以音樂寫下青春合唱團全國賽再創佳績

創團至今16年的實驗高中合唱團，在指揮鮑顗丞老師的帶領下，於今年3月3日的全國學生音樂比賽中創下團史最佳成績！本校合唱團於去年12月的新竹市高中職混聲合唱比賽中勝出，再次代表新竹市挺進全國賽。即使今年的曲子難度極高，團員們依舊竭盡全力練習，除了平常練習外，還安排了平日晚上或周末早上的加練，只為在比賽時呈現自己最好的一面。在與全國二十幾所高中激烈的競爭中，本校合唱團成功脫穎而出，以特優90.5拿下北區第二、全國第三的佳績。團長王若婷認為：「在辛苦的練習過程中，大家投入的表情就是動力的來源，希望愛唱歌的我們以後都能繼續徜徉在優美的樂聲中。」期許合唱團再接再厲，明年奪下全國冠軍！

WASC Evaluations: A Success!

IBSH undertook an evaluation by WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges), a renowned international organization that assesses a school education, from March 12th to 16th, 2017. It was IBSH second large-scale visiting assessment since 2011, conducted by Chairman Mr. Keegan leading a team of four. During these esteemed guests four-and-a-half day visit, they read IBSH self-evaluation, observed all regular classes, inspected clubs and facilities, and interviewed parents, teachers, students, administrators, the ministry of education, and the chief executive officer of science park. The visiting team observed the interaction between teachers and students by attending different classes, and they met with the school administration every morning at 8 am, asking questions and making sure that the documents match up with their observations. In a concluding report, WASC affirmed that over the past six years, IBSH has significantly improved its curriculum, interactive education, large-scale planning, individual student guidance, teacher-parent communication, educational facilities, and transparent expenses. Furthermore, WASC approved of IBSH three-year plan to strengthen the communication and professional learning between teachers, assess students growth according to the school educational goals, and increase additional prospects for improvement. IBSH will revise its action plan according to WASC advice, and the results of this plan will be reviewed during the next WASC visit. IBSH looks forward to receiving exceptional results from the evaluation, further proving that IBSH is an international school that𠏋 bettering itself every day.

Principal-Dean Conference with Affiliated Elementary Schools of Universities

On March 23rd and 24th of 2017, the public elementary school principal-dean conference was held in Hsinchu, hosted both by The Affiliated Experimental Elementary School of National Tsing Hua University and NEHS Elementary Department.The first day agenda was conducted at NEHS. The conference involved principals and deans from National Taipei University of Education Experimental Elementary School, The Affiliated Experimental Elementary School of National Chengchi University, The Affiliated Experimental Elementary School of National Tsing Hua University, The Affiliated Experimental Elementary School of National Taichung University of Education, Affiliated Experimental Elementary School of National Chiayi University, The Affiliated Experimental Elementary School of National Pingtung University, The Elementary School of Tunghai University, The Affiliated Laboratory Elementary School of National Taitung University, The Affiliated Experimental Elementary School of University of Taipei, The Affiliated Senior High School of National Kaohsiung Normal University, National Nanke International Experimental High School, National University of Tainan Affiliated Primary School and NEHS. A grand total of 105 people congregated at NEHS to start a conversation about how to educate our country youth. During the meeting, the National Twelve-year Basic Education System, developments of each school-based curriculum (whether interdisciplinary or with other special designs), the establishment of friendly campuses, guidance classes, and various other issues in the field of education were brought to the table for discussion. Principals and deans of affiliated elementary schools of universities all around the country thus had the valuable chance to discuss, learn from experiences, and share resources with each other, with the hope that down the road of managing schools, their students will be able to enjoy the most comprehensive education systems and receive the biggest blessings for their bright futures.

The Japanese Kochi Ozu High School Visits IBSH

The Japanese Kochi Ozu High School students visited IBSH on March 13th and participated in the high school classes. Kochi Ozu High School has placed this visit high on their priority list, which is evident from the whole year preparation they undertook, including sending a teacher over for a in-depth visit before the actual program. The Japanese students participated in mainly STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) courses, such as Physics and Chemistry, but they also sat in a Chinese calligraphy class, which allowed them to go home with a selfmade memorabilia of this visit. Every Japanese student was paired with a shadow friend from IBSH, who were in charge of guiding them from class to class, helping them with coursework, and assimilating them into the school atmosphere. English is a second language to the Japanese students, but they remained open minded and proactive during the visit, illustrating how the daunting language barrier is nothing on genuine academic interest and friendship. We sincerely hope that they have enjoyed their visit and that they will come again soon to forge a lasting relationship between our schools!

National Tainan First Senior High school visit

Since 2009, there are 9 schools that established the Science Magnet Program, one of NEHS𠏋 most talented class, in Taiwan. On March 30th, 25 teachers from the National Tainan First Senior High school (TNFSH), led by Principal Tien-tang Chang, has come to visit our school to discuss about education and subjects such as English and History etc. By discussing and exchanging ideas with one another, teachers from the two schools have opened their eyes and gained more insight on the ways to teach the students more knowledgeable and beneficial ways.

NEHS Choir Once Again Shines in Nationals

Under the guidance of Mr.Ying-Chen Bao, the 16-year old NEHS choir broke its own record for its performance at the National Student𠏋 Music Competition on March 3rd. The choir had already won the Hsinchu High School Choir Competition in December 2016, and it once again attended the National competition as the representative of Hsinchu. Despite the high difficulty of the song choices this year, NEHS choir members doubled their efforts and even practiced during weeknights and weekend mornings. Competing against twenty-plus high schools from all around Taiwan, our choir is honored to attain an exceptional score of 90.5, placing 2nd in the Northern area and 3rd overall. According to choir leader Ruoh-Ting Wang, 孏hroughout all the arduous practices, our own expressions of absolute immersion continually motivates us to sing on. We hope that all of us who truly love singing will enjoy the beauty of music forever.May the choir continue its success and shoot for championship next year!
